Baby Driver is one of most entertaining action movies I've seen in many years.
I love that all of the action and music in Baby Driver are completely in sync
The Expanse, for the fifth or sixth time.
I've been meaning to watch it for years. I think you know what kind of stuff I like at this point. It's awesome, right? Hard sci fi?
Not WG Plum...again...but, yeah, excellent series. I really think it'd be worth your time to try.
Watching the new season of Ghosts (American version). This season is excellent. Watched the first season of the British version of Ghosts and, surprisingly, I like the American version a bit better.
Just watched Big Trouble in Little China (1986). Fun movie for a lazy afternoon. Wanna see if I can find Kung Fu Hustle (2004). Haven't watched in a long time.
The Expanse is incredible! The first season has a Blade Runner style to it that does not appear in the rest of the seasons.
Yep. The first two seasons are wicked good, the rest are still enjoyable. Due to cancellation they didn't follow the books much after a certain point.
There is some, for sure, but it's mostly in service of the plot and true to the characters.
OK, here's how basic my tastes are...I'm enjoying NBC's Night Court. I LOVED the original run, which was a hoot. This version is not as funny, but it's still fun to watch a sitcom that glories in being dumb and having fun with its characters. Dan Larroquette is the glue in the show. I find myself wondering how they came up with Melissa Rauch to play Harry's daughter, but she does seem to enjoy it. Must be a nice change of pace from Big Bang Theory.

Surprising amount is in tune as well. Heard of a couple of movies like that. BD is the first one I've seen.

While not music, I just watched Zone of Interest for the second time (admittedly way too arthouse for the tastes of many though I think it's a masterpiece of understatement) and blown away by how powerful and essential the sound design is. It would not be the same film at all without it.
It's a brilliant inversion of the usual film maxim of "show, don't tell" - demonstrating that what's implied can sometimes be more powerful and disturbing than what is made explicit by showing.
There is a great article about how genocide can disappear into ambience and abstraction -> this is the central theme of the movie, the whole point of it. They all know what is going on on the other side of the wall, but it's abstract, it's just background noise to their comfortable lives.
