Whatcha watching?

These days I no longer pretend English is English. Subtitles have been known to fill out my understanding of some dialogue.

But some people would rather not watch a show they have to read to understand. Best caption moment ever for me was the Hunt for Red October, where they faded the subtitles out and turned up the English translation early in the piece. Hilarious.

I'll turn the cc on when something is dubbed in English. The frequent differences in tranlation are pretty funny.

Watched "Immediate Family" last night. Really cool to hear how all of those amazing musicians got their start. It's worth watching.

EDIT: My favorite comment from the movie by Lee Sklar: "When everything goes to hell, you stand on the corner being an executive and I'll play music; let's see who gets paid." :D

Recently watched Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) with Klaus Kinski as Count Dracula. A retelling of the 1922 Nosferatu. A fine movie with excellent moody, bleak cinematography, IMO.

Also re-watched Tampopo (1985), a Japanese comedy film, billed as a "ramen Western". I've seen it a few times over the years and enjoyed it each time. If you like comedies, this might be worth watching. From Janus Films who, IMO, put out quality stuff. When looking for a trailer to post, it looks like the whole film is available on Youtube. I watched it on a DVD a friend loaned me.
