Whatcha watching?

Watched Dune2 last night. i should mention that way back in the 80's, i was seeing a young lady who was a huge Dune fan. She "talked" me into reading the books; I struggled through the last three books.
This version is obviously much better than the "Sting" version. which just plain sucked. I agree with an earlier poster that having the sub titles on really helps to distinguish the dialog. Such a complicated story must be a real challenge to put on the big screen and I thought they did a decent job of conveying the story.

For this past week and the next 2 weeks we're watching the Tour de France (replays of each days' stage later that night)...that'll take us right up to the Paris Olympics, so we'll be watching that for the next few weeks.

This next one floored me as to how good an actor Peter Lorre was. M (1931), Crime/Mystery about a child killer in a German town that police couldn't catch. The criminal elements in town also joined in the hunt, but unknown to the police and for their own reasons. German language film (Lorre already spoke German and Hungarian), English subtitles. Brilliant film, in my opinion.

M is phenomenal.

And a stone classic.
I just happened to catch "M" on TCM. It was my first time seeing this movie, and I was riveted. Creepy and unsettling without being graphic or heavy-handed. Truly great filmmaking.

Last night we watched "The Inhabitant" (2022). Filmed here in the Tulsa area, it was cool seeing locations I recognized. But above that, it was a good movie. Good story and acting, and it keeps you guessing for a bit. Leslie Bibb does an outstanding job in her role!

Recently watched this documentary on Youtube -

It's a documentary about a band from just outside Olympia Washington. It's interesting if you're into late 1990s underground/alternative/noisy music. I watched it because I love Jared's (the bass player) newer band, Big Business.

Just got done watching for the umpteenth time, one of my all time sci-fi classics. Love the Spanish language cover!;)

11/6/1992, Miami and Orlando. The NBA debut of Shaquille O'Neal.
This is fun. Rony Seikaly, Chris Corchianni, Glen Rice, John Salley, Greg Kite, Nick Anderson, Dennis Scott, Anthony Bowie, Bimbo Coles.
That was funny watching Shaq grab a rebound and go coast to coast with Brian Shaw getting the heck out of the way at the end as Shaq barrels down the lane to finish with a thunder dunk.

Watching YouTube offerings. Wife loves Shark Week, which started tonite. I lose the evening TV for a week LOL.

I love Karen Carpenter. Found this 6 min. clip of The Carpenters playing for wounded soldiers, back from Vietnam, at Walter Reed Hospital in 1970. Just kinda nice to see them (band, too) outdoors doing a gig instead of a concert. Always loved and respected the bass playing in all of their works.

They did a medley of shortened versions of their familiar songs

I feel sheepish and guilty about this now, but back in the 1970s and 1980s, I dismissed The Carpenters as lightweight, bland fluff. This live outdoor performance earns my respect, as Bacharach compositions are trickier than they may seem. Their arrangements here still seem overly light, fast, and too cheerful — but I can recognize the skill with which they performed, including the surprising harmonies in "Do You Know The Way To San Jose?" at the end of the medley.
