Whatcha watching?

Watched an Australian movie on Amazon Prime called Monolith (2022). Sci-fi, psychological, mystery. Low key pacing. Rather cool that it's one character in one place and so well done. Liked it alot. Budget of under $350,000 American dollars ($500,000 Australian dollars) and shot in 15 consecutive days. Kudos to the actress, IMO.

This movie is terrible. I suppose the filmmakers would say it's a character study. A look back at the era and what being in a motorcycle gang means. That's an accurate description.

But nothing happens. There is no plot. Girl meets boy. Time passes. Movie ends. It sucked.
While I don’t doubt your assessment, like people who only watch movies with positive religious content, there is a surprising number of people who will watch it just to geek out over the scooters. They won’t remember who played in it or what the story was all about but they will remember details like a 56 pan head that had 63 fender trim. :roflmao:

I'll disagree re: Longlegs. Saw it last night. I thought it was a good looking, well performed movie. Plot was cool though a bit generic and predictable. I love Nicholas Cage though his performance might be distracting for some people.

I love T. Rex, so that helped.

Overhyped. Can't say it was scary, but I can't tell you the last time a movie scared me.

It was a good watch that I'd recommened to fans of slow-burn horror.

Also, Longlegs is a massive disappointment. Awful.
I’m a lifelong horror devotee, and I’ve learned to not believe the “scariest ever” hype that’s attached to some new release every 6 months or so. I may give this one a shot when I can stream for free, but I’m done paying for theater viewings for all the hyped nonsense.

Great style, but that was all there was to it. There was nothing to buy into, no characters worth caring about, just cool looking vapor.

As I was watching it I thought about Nightmare on Elm St and how much better, soup to nuts, a movie it was.

A Quiet Place 3 stunk. This is the second movie I've seen in a row that didn't have a story. Remember what you saw in the trailer? That's the movie. The aliens attack. The lady goes from location to location with her cat. The movie ends.
Just saw this. The cat should get an Oscar for saving this movie.

I thought we might learn about how this all started, but it's still a mystery. We did learn that aliens can master interstellar travel but not the concept of a boat.

The movie also forgot the aliens have no problem swimming in Jim Halpert's house towards the end when Emily Blunt gives birth. Or maybe only salt water is a problem.

House of the Dragons is not good. Unlikeable people sitting in rooms and talking until something CGI happens.

There's what I thought was a full movie called Please Hold on HBO. A guy gets arrested and imprisoned all by drones and AI. He tries to get out. Can't get through to a human. 20 minutes go by and the story concludes, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a short film. Good watch.

Season 3 of His Dark Materials. Great adaptation of great books. A little rushed, but that's hard to avoid.
