Whatcha watching?

Both Tooms episodes were great, definite favorites!
For sure. The first one was creepy too.
Interesting side note for Squeeze, the first Tooms episode. It featured actor Donal Logue, who later appeared as King Horik in another favorite series of mine, Vikings. I remember the first time he appeared in Vikings, all the memories of Squeeze and Tooms came rushing back on me.

Logue is great in whatever he's in, but especially The Dao of Steve.

Been alot of years since watching The Hunt for Red October. Gonna have to pull it up.

As an aside, there's an SH-60B Seahawk helicopter (Anti-Submarine Warfare) shown in the evacuation scene. I maintained those for about 8 years. Starts about 5:10 mark.:

I'd only been in the SH-60 community about a year or 2 when I saw Hunt for Red October. Thought it was so cool to see 'my' new helo in a movie, I went out and bought the plastic model kit afterwards LOL.

Back on topic, recently watched 2 old movies I enjoyed. White Zombie (1932) with Bela Lugosi as a Voodoo Master. Had never seen this before. Also watched The Emperor Jones (1933) with Paul Robeson (great bass-baritone singing voice) who starts as a train porter, escapes a chain gang, and becomes the emperor of an island.

Good call @fig on White Zombie. I watched that one last month as well when I was on a search for old classic horror movies.
I forget the channel I found them on. Roku has a channel devoted only to those old, old horror flicks. Mostly all black and whites, some silent, and a one now and then from the early days of color movies.

Wish we had Roku. I'd be all up in that channel LOL
Keep an eye on Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and even the Roku website. You can often pick one up for $20. They have more expensive models too, but you may not need those extra features. Ours was more, but I used wired Ethernet for it and I like the headphone jack in the remote. We bought the Ultra in 2020 for $80. Still works just fine.
The Roku channel is 100% free, as is all of those movies and old TV shows I watch on it. Yes, there are some commercials, but I grew up on those so it ain't no big thing. Besides, I need a break now and then anyways.

And now I have a homework assignment LOL. I'll do some looking. Thanks for the info.

...Roku...

Talk about a crazy and very fortunate turn of events. We had a Roku TV in our back storage room LMFAO!

We inherited it from mother-in-law about 2 years ago when she went into an assisted living facility. Figured it'd be a standby TV if ours died, covered it, and forgot about it.

Anyway, I mentioned Roku last night to my wife. She said she thought the stored TV was a Roku set. Yep, sure is LOL. Score #1

Swapped TV's this morning, and it's a bit larger than ours. Score #2.

Roku works fine. Plugged in 2 game consoles and the cable box, all inputs work. Score #3.

Triple score for the WIN! LOL

I'll spend another hour looking thru Roku, then the adulting has to start.

Thanks for the push to look at Roku. I ignored Roku in the past, 'cause I thought it was a subscription service. After your post, I started my 'homework' last night with "Hey, honey, can we...?" And the wife swooped in with the free and correct answer LOL

All kinds of wins in this post, that's great buddy.
When you get on the Roku, you'll want to open the Roku channel then go to Live TV. It's like cable TV in that you have a guide to scroll through if you just want to channel surf what they offer.
It's not live TV like NBC, ABC, etc. It's live as in what Roku offers you to watch.
I bookmark my favorite channels so I can check on those for what I want to watch.

I found 2 sub-sub categories on Roku that carry many of those old horror or sci-fi type movies. My first selection...
Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) LOL

Also downloaded some free (with commercials) apps. One surprise is BritBox. I wanted it, thought for sure it was subscription, but I have it for free. Score #4, I suppose. (4 score and 24 hours ago...) :)

Still having fun exploring this Roku Tv set.
