Whatcha watching?

Based on previews, I'm predicting the new Superman is going to bomb.
Saw the trailer during a playoff game. Unimpressed.

I don't want a lot of angst and conflict and drama with Superman; there's more than enough of that with other superheroes. I want him to be the big Boy Scout that he is in the Christopher Reeve movies. It may or may not sell nowadays, but the other way isn't selling, so...and besides, the Boy Scout thing works pretty well for Captain America!

I fell asleep about halfway though. I don't think I've seen any of the previous ones. This had long stretches of what's meant to be a plot and character development, but it's really just filler between scenes of CGI people dying in somewhat creatives ways. But the CGI dying is probably only about five minutes of screen time. It's not enough to keep you engaged. The filler in between is terrible.

Did everyone know there’s a sequel to Sin City? I had no idea. I was watching the original today for the first time in years. Watched the whole thing from beginning to end and it was great, and then the sequel popped up as soon as the credits roll. I watched the first half. It’s not as good.

I watched Novocaine the other night and it was pretty entertaining, though for an action movie/black comedy it made me more squeamish than the average horror movie. I can't image hardly anyone but Jack Quaid in the lead, his kinda "aw shucks, well I guess I have to do a violence now, here we go, sorry about that" sort of charisma definitely carried it. I was describing it a bit to my 10 year old daughter and her take was that it sounded like Midoriya for My Hero Academia. He has a super power, but has to be careful how he uses it, because it destroys him when he does.

He's kinda like the new Tom Hanks in that way. He'll keep doing goofy comedies till he eventually gets dramatic rolls that pay more and he'll never be funny again.

We watched Novocaine and enjoyed even with all the bordering on gross but funny scenes. I may have to catch some more of Jack Ryan's movies.

Brutalist is a longish watch perhaps worth it for the inventive story, cinematography and top notch acting from a very well assembled cast.

Andor is also showing on our screen almost thru the 1st season. .

Shogun on Hulu was well worth the watch, just a great all around series.

A Complete Unknown is very good as well.

Oh, also, been watching "Beyond The Black Rainbow" a LOT
You "peaked" my interest, lol. Yeah, decades ago I would have loved this one but those days are long gone, so didn't really enjoy it in that way. It is only meant to watch in that state of mind, solely.

Started a little short story series on Netflix - Love, Death + Robots. These are a lot of fun!
