I don't know why I do this to myself, but I watched the Friday the 13th movies yesterday since it was Friday the 13th.
Now I'm scared of every single little noise in the house or movement and I don't want to leave my bedroom. Of course Jason can find me there too, but for some reason it feels better to die on my bed than some other place in the house or outside.
The mood those movies create with the music, sound effects and visuals creates suspense and horror for me that other movies don't.

I get the feeling that the trailer is funnier than the movie will be, but I'd love to be wrong about that.
The one thing I very subjectively liked was the guitar store was Real Guitars - where I worked - behind the same counter... It was shot on a Sunday when the store was closed.
I don't know why I hate Spaceballs, but I do. It never made me laugh, and I like everyone involved. John Candy is a legend. I've enjoyed Bill Pullman in everything I've seen him in. Other Mel Brooks movies crack me up. But I hate Spaceballs. Maybe because I dislike Star Wars so much. But other similar silly comedies of the time are funny. Just this movie poster alone makes me cackle. God, I hope this is good. I hope it embraces the ridiculous and doesn't shy away from rude or misogynistic humor. I couldn't imagine anyone better taking over for Leslie Nielsen.
Last night we watched "Super Troopers" because our son hadn't seen it and needed a laugh. He laughed heartily many times.
Just perusing YouTube and found this fight scene between Steve Austin and the killer robot. It was always one my favorite shows as a kid. Especially this episode. The inside of the robot's head looks like the innards of my transistor radio. 
I'll pass on this one for a few reasons, mostly Liam Neeson. I can't picture Liam Neeson being funny. I have never seen him in anything but 'tough guy who's going to kill you' roles. Similar in a way for me to Steven Segal.

I'm optimistic about this one. Akiva Schaffer from the Lonely Island is co-writing and directing, and their stuff usually makes me laugh.
I always found Spaceballs kind of hit and miss, myself. The comedians were good and some individual scenes were classic. ( i.e: like when Daphne Zuniga was removing her headphones/cinnamon buns to answer someone or when they reached ludicrous speed), stuff like that. Otherwise, well…
I don't know what that is, but the other two writers were apparently part of How I Met Your Mother, which has never made me laugh. But this is a very different kind of comedy. Deadpan humor and puns and silly gags. I really, really hope it doesn't suck.

John Saxon...I think he's most famous for his role as Roper in "Enter the Dragon."
I was watching the Martian last night. I've seen it several times. I was talking about it this morning with this new kid we hired at my job. He's 20. I convinced him it's a true story about a mission to Mars where a man was left behind and survived and grew potatoes. I worry for the future.
Potatoes? How could anyone growing up in our information age not know it was really turnips?
