This was insufferable. It’s not a movie. It’s an exposition of cinematography and actors reciting lines without anything to hold the audience’s attention. I hated this.

That’s how I feel about all of his films that I’ve seen. As formal exercises they hold a certain interest, but otherwise there is just nothing there. Not a fan.View attachment 7254576

The Gaffigan scene is just... chef's kiss perfect stupid. You're a phenomenal father. Seen that and Club Dread more times than I would admit if I could count them.Last night we watched "Super Troopers" because our son hadn't seen it and needed a laugh. He laughed heartily many times.
I had no idea what this was going into it. But then the opening credits sequence was a five minute overhead shot of Benicio Del Toro taking a bath and it dawned on me that this was a Wes Anderson movie. I stayed for what I thought had to be at least 80% of the movie, and then I went on wikipedia to see where I was in the plot summary and I was only halfway through. This movie is terrible. That’s how I feel about all of his films that I’ve seen. As formal exercises they hold a certain interest, but otherwise there is just nothing there. Not a fan.
Wes Anderson, ugh. 100% style, zero substance. But he keeps getting to make movie after movie. I truly don't get it.I had no idea what this was going into it. I just remembered I was also bamboozled by Asteroid City. I didn't know it was a Wes Anderson movie at the time. I thought it was some kind of weird sci fi movie. It was just as terrible as this recent one. Every character can't be deadpan. It's an odd choice. Don't emote. Just recite the lines. I don't like it.Wes Anderson, ugh. 100% style, zero substance. In this last one he has an estranged daughter who's a nun. Upon meeting him for the first time, finding out he's a nefarious trader baron of some sort, and learning that he probably killed her mother, she reacts as if being told the sky is blue and today is Thursday. If that's something that's amazing that I'm not understanding, maybe someone could explain it to me. Someone very important and influential in the movie business must have at one point told other important and influential people that Wes Anderson makes amazing movies, and actors and Hollywood people have no choice but to agree.Anderson's films lack... energy, and they don't hold my interest for long. I know that's his style, but I keep thinking about the scene in "Strange Brew" where Doug whispers at Bob, "Pssst! Act!". That's the kind of direction Anderson's movies need.
Besides the last two episodes of that season, the rest is pretty awful.First episode of season V of B5.
I'll let you know (If I remember to, being an old fart) as I have not watched it since back in the late 1900s.Besides the last two episodes of that season, the rest is pretty awful.
