What's a good inexpensive bass amp?

I've also been looking for a smaller practice amp, and the ones that keep popping up on my radar are:

- Acoustic B100 (15" speaker, 100 watts, currently $199 new on MF's website with free shipping)
- Ampeg BA-112 or BA-115, and SWR Workingman's 112 or 115 (used you can find one for $200 if you're patient)

There are many misc. brands / models for <$200, again, if you're patient: G-K, Fender, Yamaha, etc.

I'm not in the market for anything with smaller than a 12" speaker, so I can't tell you about the real small stuff. If you want to buy new and aren't going to gig with it, the B100 looks like a great deal to me.

Get an amp you can actually use and just use headphones with it when you practice in your apartment.

Hartke is the best, least expensive bass amp imo.

Pretty much any one of these can get pretty loud with the extension cab. I personally enjoy them because of the built-in compressor and parametric EQ, not a lot of combos will give you that for the price.

A big +1 to anything Carvin.

Maybe you can find something like a Hartke Kickback 1-12 amp for that much.

These are great amps for a bedroom/small jam application. They are priced quite reasonably in used condition.

My practice amp is the Acoustic 260 micro rig. Sounds great in smaller areas, plenty of power for jamming, headphone/mp3 jacks, offers versatility that combos can't, and only costs around $250. Check it out.
