Don't buy them. Save more money if you want your sound as rich as Victor Wooten's.

I own a KZ6 and its preamp is just silly and the asymmetric neck design

is somewhat bothersome with it relatively fat thickness.

I bought it too cheap, so I'm not selling it away, but it's now my project bass.

(Which means that my chisels and files are going to have a deep relationship with it.)

And Ibanez? Well.... The last time I tried out a SD...something model,

it was nothing better than a MIM Fender bass.


Why don't you consider a used Stingray or something?

There are many good types of basses in the world, you know.

I meant in terms of more frets. I've always called a bass with extra frets 'long scale'. What is a bass like that actually called?

I've never heard of a 36" bass being called 'long scale'. I've only heard of a 36" scale bass being called a 36" scale bass.

The term scale has nothing to do with frets, nor ever has. The scale length is the speaking length of the string- the distance between the nut and intonation points of the bridge. A long scale bass is 34". An extra long scale is 35"+. Medium scale is 32", short scale is below 32", etc. etc.

Until God finds the time to answer, I'll jump in and say ...I don't think there is, really.
It's taste in this case, which i'd make the deciding factor.
They are quite different and I personally prefer the looks on the mtd...
Play before you buy and you'll be fine.
Every company puts out dudds once in a while an most do the same with gems.

You need to pay more attention: That is $1000 DEPOSIT! You pay the rest when you get the bass! Price is $4750 ... PLUS SHIPPING... OUCH!

But hey, so long as buying a bass like Victor Wooten plays ensures that YOU will play like Victor Wooten, then that is really cheap!
