What's in your Rehearsal Space...

Music wise, we've got our equipment (guitars, PA, drums, bass rig), couple of fans, lamp, my laptop hooked into my crate bt15 for quick song review, a music stand with a master song list on it....and us. Oh, and occasionally the dog sneaks in and right now the baby peacock joins us..otherwise it cries and won't stop.

Equipment wise, we don't need much. Everyone has their own spare stuff :0.

It's my front room so there's all sorts of other stuff in it.... only one chair though, we sit outside on breaks :0.

We just moved out of our long-time jam pad over the weekend. But for the last 8 years we had:
mini fridge
couch
dry erase board
sheet music stand
box of spare cables, fuses, tools, and lightbulbs
4 track recorder with a separate mic and stand ready to go
cd player already rigged into the PA
a dedicated drumset just for the practice pad

We also had built a big drum-riser/stage platform to get the drums off the floor, and it also allowed for storage space underneath.

We have a lot of stuff crammed into a very tiny space. Keyboard, mixer, bass rig, full drum set, band poster, two PA speakers, three monitors, and wires going everywhere. Not all that much fun stuff, there's no room! The walls are covered in old books which works well to absorb the sound.

We do have a humongous collection of rhumba cans along the walls though. It's like our drink of choice (since we all agreed to not drink alcohol or do drugs before or during practice).

Yeah actually it'd be pretty cool to make this thread a show and tell what's in your rehearsal place :)

So here is mine, it's the garage of our house, and it has to be made relatively empty because my dad still keeps the car in it.

So two synths, a drum kit, a PA, my combo, 2 guitar combos, 2 mic stands, a sheet music stand, a (cooling)fan, plenty of boards with useless stuff written on them, chord charts, a vast amount of cords, a mixer, 3 mikes, an old table, 5 uncomfortable chairs, and us of course :) the only problem it's not fully permanent, it'd be so good not to pack everything after rehearsals...

EDIT: I almost forgot, there's a watch featuring ducktales in here too :)

I will apologize in advance if my reply seems snotty.

In my way of thinking, if a band needs to rehearse weekly to get tight, they probably need to practice individually to get their parts down instead of living in a basement.

I don't normally "play in a band" so most of my rehearsals occur on sound stages. I do play with "bands". Mostly groups of musicians that get together for a specific job like weddings. If we do a rehearsal, it is at low sound level. Rehearsing at loud volumes is a waste of time. I will bring a small combo amp, they bring acoustic guitars, small keyboard amp plus a drummer on electronic drums or just high hat. We don' play songs all the way through (cut solos). Rehearsal are as needed, not a weekly ritual.

I am sure this offend some, but this is the way I (and my cohorts) see it.

Snotty? Perhaps. :eyebrow: Moreso, it's not quite in line with the thread-if you don't have a rehersal space.....then don't reply to a thread asking what's in your rehersal space :rollno:. Let those of us who do go with the OP's topic. You're doing music in a different way, nothing wrong with that as long as you don't make the other ways of doing music out to be inferior :hmm:. Because, they aren't :hyper:. You're a "hired gun", hired guns don't need group practice space.
Bands do. :bassist::bassist:

practicing full band; at volume, for the spiders......

~is fun
~a good stress release from the days ho hum work
~a good way to write
~a good way to learn

Here is a photo of my old band's rehearsal space. Note that I longer smoke near mine or anyone else's gear or inside a rehearsal space.

I couldn't even begin to go into what was in this space. Aside from our gear there was a vinyl cutting machine for stickers, 3 or 4 computers, unused portions of the drummers set (it was his house). Sidefills, monitors, subs, mains, soundboards, A giant toolbox (those red ones with tons of drawers) racks of effects and preamps. A lot of distractions if you ask me.

Also note that this room has been remodeled into this.

as for the current (and a lot younger) band, we rehearse in a detached garage with our gear and the bare essentials, some back up speaker and instrument cables. a few posters and a few other bands gear. I like it better to be honest. There are less distractions. Perhaps I'll get a pic this afternoon at rehearsal.

Acoustic tiles? I've used loads of rehearsal rooms but the best was our drummer's spare bedroom. We could squeeze 5 guys in there but we actually got work done because we could hear ourselves. He had one end of the room completly foamed up.

Now we rehearse in a £50 a session place with plasterboard walls which are carpeted. That hardly absorbs anything below 14K. Sound turns to noise.

i have my amp, the gutarists amp, our guitars,

we also have a drum kit (almost) its a full kit our drummer just has to brng symbols/ sympbol stands and his double kick peddle (groan, i think he just needs to play faster)

a crapy computer

and we need a PA and a mixer so were pretty much got nothin
