What's It Worth? Help me fix my GAS!

Hey folks,

I really hope I have this in the right forum and I'm not breaking any rules. I'm a supporting member so I think I'm alright, but if I did violate I'll be happy to delete.

So I used to be a big Fender basher when I was a guitarist. Never liked the sound of strats or tele's or what have you. So I figured I'd hate the basses too. I was wrong, very wrong. So I'm trying to get scratch to buy an Oly White Squier with a Tort guard. Just found out I'm being laid off so I have no way to put any money away for this.

Luckily my wife is a lovely woman, and she understands that if I didn't have my music I couldn't go on. She's fine with me getting rid of some of my gear to buy new gear, just as long as I'm not taking it out of the pocket.

I have some gear that just basically sits around, I did some research and honestly couldn't find any info that I'd need to id a price on this stuff. Thats where you wonderful people come in. Here goes:

First up is a Peavey Foundation 2000 Fretless. Its got some dings and scratches from the previous owner which I've tried to detail here, this one is by far the best out of the bunch that I have. Guess that's part of life when you only buy used :). Play's great, not issue with the electronics, just the scuffs. Not sure on the year:

Next is a Galveston 6 string. Not sure on model or year. This one is dinged up quite a bit from the previous owner. The vinyl sticker "ORPHANSOFEVE" was put on by me. I've done this with other wording before on this bass and cleans up just fine:

Last is a Peavey 1516 cab. 400w @ 4ohm. It was modded with an 18" speaker instead of the normal 15". Lot of scuff up on this, but sounds great:

You want a rough estimate so I will try to help. Peavey Foundations are great basses that don't have a great deal of resale value. I bargain shop and have 5 foundation and paid less than $150 for each. I have seen them go for up to $300 but that is about the limit. Yours is a 2000 model which is uncommon, and that could raise the price slightly as does its unusual color, but I doubt it would go for more than $250. Since it is fretless that narrows the market a bit so you may have to wait longer to find a buyer.

The galveston is a butget import. I really don't know much about it, but I would expect it to fall in the same price range or lower.

The Peavey cabinet is a great quality piece, but the current move is to smaller more portable cabinets. My guess is that it will fall in the $200 -$300 range at best. I doubt you could purchase a replacement with anywhere near its capabilities for anywhere near that price. I would probably keep the cabinet for that reason.

Thank you, that helps a lot. The Galveston I really want to keep, but the Peaveys' unfortunately are just dust collectors.

The fretless is great, can't complain at all about it, I just don't utilize it that much. I played in an Elvis tribute band for awhile and it really did the trick for that.

The cab also is perfect but I NEVER use it. I've always liked a tight focused sound and that 18" replacement just makes it WAY to floppy for me at the volumes I normally play even after constant EQ adjustment. I've used it in the past for a practice cab, and for awhile I had it on stage, but I can't actually see myself utilizing it to much in the future for anything.

But basically from what you explained as the rough estimate, if I find the right person on TB I could probably get a straight up trade for a Fender Squier Jazz used and in good shape by putting any one of those pieces up. At least up here they run $229 new in the store for most. Am I right in that assumption? Am I going to be taking a significant loss? Thank you again so much for your help. :hyper:
