I killed my table saw. So, table saw parts are now on my workbench! Trying to figure out what it needs. Looks like at least one bearing and probably some brushes while it's apart.

I don't know if you're serious or not but if you are, I truly appreciate the offer! That said, it looks like I'll only be out $20 for parts, and considering that I really like this saw I think I'll just go that route.
As I mentioned before the WBO build a guy I knew (kind of) from high school hit me up on FB and offered to give me a wood stash he'd inherited and kept for 25 years. He finally admitted to himself that he wasn't going to use it and he hated seeing it sitting there. The birdseye in the WBO build was from that stash. I should have measured the board feet in the pile, but it was a pretty significant amount of birdseye and a bit of walnut. Most of it was rough cut.
When I brought the bass over to show him he mentioned that he played guitar and I offered to make him a guitar, so that was the start of this commission. Of course I gave him a deal considering the wood he gave me. In fact if I consider the retail cost of that wood, this might be the most expensive instrument I've built

It's a 24.75" scale through neck, dual humbuckers with a funky wiring design (pulled off Guitarelectronics.com). The neck is birdseye in the center, walnut then tiger maple. The pickups are these crazy Seymour Duncans that seem to be made specifically for super heavy, distorted sound. I hate to make judgements on people based on what they look like, but you'd never think this guy would want these pickups (I checked with him twice before ordering them). I'm not sure if it's ironic or not, but he wants me to inlay a silhouette of a cat in the headstock, just like a normal one, not something crazy.
The body is walnut back with a birdseye top and some wenge strips for contrast. I chambered the body a bit (when I'm done I always think I should have done more chambering!). The body shape kind of started with a PRS, but it's evolved plenty past that, except maybe the basic dimensions. This is the second guitar commission I've done in a row and both have asked for a Gibson SG neck profile, which I find a little weird. I've got another couple of weeks to go in my new "no rushing" style of building.

Nazgul/Sentient? Invaders? Pegasus/Sentient? Black Winter? What are the pickups, man?!
Invaders. I have no experience with them, but the descriptions makes them sound pretty aggressive!
Deep down inside me there's a secret desire to get the Nazgul/sentient or Invaders and put them in the neckthrough guitar I built last fall. It already has an active preamp and can nicely crunch up an amp even with "normal" pickups, so I kinda want to see how much it would rip with something really hot. Looking forward to hearing how that guitar sounds once it's done.
Well I'll keep that in mind as a plan B if the parts I ordered don't revive my saw. You're like 90 minutes down the thruway from me so it wouldn't even need to be shipped!
My oldest boy put a set of Nazgul/Sentient in his Dean and I gotta say they do sound pretty sweet. This video will give you a pretty good idea. Skip ahead to about 3 minutes:
Invaders (which come next in the demo) sound pretty tame next to a Nazgul.
I actually like a hot humbcker in a guitar. If you wire it with a series/parallel switch you get a very nice clean tone or the more aggressive tone.
It sounds very lovely. Big fat full sound, and with the strings I'm using (NYXL 1052), it has the clarity and brightness of a piano.

I also like those strings.
I received a free set when they were demoing them and have bought a couple sets since. Otherwise I use D'Addario EXL series strings primarily these days.
The item, believe it or not, is a steel snare drum shell. It is an experiment in damping vibration and ringing overtones.
It would be good if it were easily removable, if it doesn't work.
