Fixed it for ya'.I've got another pair of BARITONE guitars in the design phase now. These are going to be built to be sold. I was going to default to plain hardtails - something like the one you used - but my guitarist friend is talking me into a tremolo bridge. I'll probably take his word that it'll make them more marketable.

Cool!I need a fret slot cutting jig for multiscale fretboards, and this is what I've come up with:

So, imagine that there is a 3/8" recess cut out of the bottom face of that center bit (the Guide), like this (I can't get my crap CAD software to render it correctly with the rest of the jig:

So the Guide is going to rotate about the hole in the rounded end. There will be a screw going through that hole, into a T-nut embedded in the bottom of the base.
The fretboard blank will have a printed template affixed to the surface, and will then go under the Guide, which will be adjusted to match the printed angle.
Once the angle is correct, the Guide will be locked down with the screw, as well as a spring clamp or small C or F clamp on the other end.
The Guide will also have some small neodymium magnets glued into recesses in the flat side to help the saw stay put.
So you get your fretboard with the printed template, stick it under the guide, and press the jointed edge of the board against the two fence pieces along the bottom edge.

So you just go along, rotating the guide to match the template, and run the saw against the Guide.

Anyway...the toggle clamps will be here Friday, so I'll try to build the jig this weekend and slot my board, and report how well it works (or doesn't). I think it will be good.

I'm building a pair of complimentary ukuleles for me and my wife. I've been building them side by side following the same design, just different wood choices, and hers has a fancy inlay on the top. Hers is a surprise for her birthday. I got mine all finished and set up a few days ago and just now took hers down from letting the finish cure to glue the neck on and get it ready to set up.
Well, as I was admiring the neck for her ukulele, I realized something. I put the dang side marker dots on the left-handed side. My wife is right handed.

At least the inlay on the top turned out OK (not perfect - but OK) - I'm happy with it considering this is my first attempt at something this fancy.

So today is day 23 post cardiac surgery and I'm bored AF. I've cleaned up everything in my workshop that weighs less than 5lbs, and I've done every tiny project I can do - one-handed with no pressure on my sternum. There are tons of things I still can't do which are driving me up the wall, including moving the sprinkler and hose around to try to save my garden; just too heavy.
Buuuuut... I can design a bass.I have to do it slowly, because standing and bending over like this eventually leads to pain, and seated, I can't see what I'm doing.
This has taken a few days to get to this point, where it might normally be an evening, but honestly, I can't really complain.
I'm alive, soon to be back working and building, and have very few socioeconomic problems. And this one is coming together nicely, an attempt to build something that fits me ergonomically and scratches lots of itches. Hopefully there will be enough "fives" involved that I'll be able to use this design in the 2021 Winter Build Off.

Find a board that you can use as a drawing surface. Like a piece of 1/2" plywood 2' x 3', ideally with a melamine or Formica coating. Then sit in a chair, with your back upright, and the board on your lap tilted to a comfortable angle, resting on the edge of the table. That's going to be the most comfortable way to draw without straining your back or legs. When you need to get up, just tip it up onto the table.
It's been 14 weeks since my heart surgery, and I'm generally feeling good. But I'm really seeing how lying around for six months has deteriorated my muscles. Particularly the back and legs. It's like starting over again to build those muscles up to be able to easily stand up and stay on my feet for hours. Man, when you get over 50, it takes some serious exercise to avoid becoming a couch potato. Disrupt that with some surgery, and it's hard to get back.
