Is the driveway also gravel, or is the driveway concrete?

It's mostly lawn with a small concrete pad in front, the width of the garage, but only 4' deep. It's a boat-building shed, so that's why its awkwardly placed, but the gravel floor would have been useless for that too. I think it was probably paving stones way back when and these guys did the gravel when they reno'd.

Not sure what the norm is for the time period and region it was built, but around here, if it's a gravel floor in an out building, it's out in the country and probably a gravel driveway too, and just used for storage and to park the tractor. Or,....it was a concrete pad that was all cracked and/or settled below grade and they busted it out and just leveled it off with gravel to be cheap.

If we can ever get in our new house (way too long of a story to tell, let alone type out), I would like to build a 3 bay 30x40 pole barn. 2 bays for vehicles and equipment and the 3rd bay will just have a man door and be the shop. So roughly 13-14x30. I already know it will just be a gravel floor for a long time, maybe forever, but in the shop area, I'll probably lay down some type of flooring system over the stone. It'll be 100% backwoods.

Bobbins for Mustang pickups. I’m not going to use covers, these will have black cloth tape to shield the coil wire. A5 magnets, I’m going to try to wind 10 000 rounds of 42AWG wire on each coil.

Cigar Box Guitar in progress. Thanks to the Samantha Fish vid someone posted here a few weeks ago. It put a 'burr under my saddle'. Been a blast. Purchased pre-fretted neck. Rest is all scrounged, except for P/U, tuners.

When I was at Rockler today, they had 2 large stacks of leopard wood on pallets. I said the exact same thing.
I ended up leaving without any, but I'm going back this weekend.
There's gotta be SOMEthing I can use it for.

So on my workbench for the last couple of weeks has been, a workbench!

Subframe coming together, made from 8x2 beams. Sloppy mortices but I'm learning:

I've challenged myself to make this one without any screws or pins, so I used split dowels and wedges to hold it all together.

You can just make out a couple of them in the below pic, but unfortunately I didn't get any close ups:

I saw them flush after the glue has dried.

And here she is with the vintage Woden installed; I rescued that old vice from the skip a couple of years back. It's been waiting for this day:

It's all held together with the dowels, except for the legs which are held in place with bolts, so that I can remove them for transportation, should I ever need to relocate my shop.

Here's the shop in the closest thing the shop is ever going to get to a finished state; wish I'd taken a 'before' picture as it was just floor to ceiling junk!

We're in the process of buying a house and I've been given plenty of little projects to do for the new place; I'll keep y'all posted if any of them get interesting! Hopefully there'll be an actual instrument build happening at some point in the next 12 months... I can dream, right?

That's a Stanley/Bailey no.7, I'm pretty sure it's a type 15 circa 1931-32. She's crusty for sure, but I'm not afraid of doing a resto. My no.5 was also a resto and she came out great. I've gotta find a lateral adjuster or a replacement frog, but I gave $40 for this so I'm happy so far. Tools man! Tools!

And I know, I've got a decent 6" jointer that works fine. Why would anyone want to use archaic hand tools anyways? I don't know, I just find it therapeutic. There's a sense of pleasure that I find in making fine shavings from these things. It's hard to explain, but I find joy in using old techniques.

My brother restores hand planes as well. His goal is to get a Stanley/Bailey of each size. He's on his way.

@MonetBass Very nice! I have a long way to go still, but I do have a nice start -

Oh, and as you can see in the pic, I got the #7 back together. I haven't repaired the broken tote yet, but I did get it all cleaned up and functioning. It also needs a good sharpening, as do all of my planes/chisels (I just purchased a sharpening setup so it's on my list).
My plan is to build a plane till that looks similar to this (stolen interwebs photo) -

I like the look of them stored in that manner and it seems to take up less room. I'll add my rabbet plane and spoke shave to the upper corner above the shorties. So yeah, as soon as I can afford $150 worth of plywood, I'll get to that.

Building cabs is a nice diversion from building basses.

This is based on @Arjank ‘s Cyclops, with an added array of 3” mids up top.
