What's On Your Workbench?

Well I got some time to get back at this 8 string short scale bass (actually an extended scale guitar) and drilled for the tuners and stated mapping out lightening for the inlay.

I’ve enjoyed turning bowls and other pieces for 45 years, but I’ve never made a knob. Both of us have a horizon to expand .

@TerribleTim68 started a thread about it. It should still be floating around the LC if you search. I posted a few pics although I think I’ve changed a few methods since. With that experience I’m sure you’d come up with some good ideas.

Nothing bass related on my workbench, but I recently had some wood turning fun. Padauk and maple.

I did, but I'll be darned if I can find it now, lol :roflmao:
I probably should have bookmarked it. :meh:

Okay, in other news of "What's On Your Workbench" other than basses, I finally finished up my plane till.
I am NOT a great woodworker, but I find a lot of joy in it and I'm learning a lot with every project. As is typical of new wood workers, I am starting to build storage solutions for my tools that I keep acquiring. This has been a week long project with a TON of "glue this up, clamp it up, come back tomorrow, repeat ad nauseum". I'm happy to call this one done!

Oh, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out too.
Just a simple piece of plywood with some walnut (because walnut) for all the edge strips and dividing strips. Finished in Odie's Oil, it's a nice finish, easy to use and non-toxic, food safe.

On to the next project! Maybe now I can get back to Lucifer!

I fixed the Harmony = The Black One from the last page..
Took about 20 minutes on that one..
Should run it down to our Buddy at the Peddler's Mall in the morning.. TONY!!
Another Consignment Guitar from the Trash.. HaHa!!
Will make a great Christmas Gift for some young upcoming guitarist.
Instead of shimming the neck, I removed the thumb screws & it setup as good as could be expected for a 50 year old student guitar, Truss Rod even functioned.. I even touched up the black paint too..
With the strings I have $14 invested now..
Black Harmony $6.33.JPG

Still no Basses on the bench
Our Fretless Jackson JPB-7 Needs one of those $50 Preamps installed.
Steinberger & Ibanez are getting along just fine..

Parker Fly will get it's patch made today & routed with a Dremel Tool.
I made up a router for my Dremel but found one at the Goodwill for $2

I have to say, for what amounts to a generic Asian import, it's impressive how robust it is. I probably could have bought a running one on craigslist or facebook marketplace for what I have in the motor and stand but of course there's the sentimental value attached to this one!
