What's On Your Workbench?

A Compass Rose "F hole" on an upcoming 5 string fretless (there will be a full build thread very soon)

Nice. I always like your builds. The bottom one is a lap steel, resonator, mandolin?

Thank you Matt.

The bottom pic is a small ("Pocket") resonator/lap steel that I'm designing. It will have hardboard (masonite) top, back & sides.

The resonator will mount from the back.

The idea came from the electric resonator upright bass that I started building last fall.

Weird but I like weird. :D

Back from paint - the Candy Tangerine is spectacular in person. This will come ready for both reverse P (delivered) and with the mounting holes installed for regular P (with the swap of a pickguard, when the client so chooses)

Chrome hardware (Hipshot Ultralights and KickAss bridge) and white Pearloid pickguard round out the package. This bass will be on tour in Greenland shortly after delivery to its US West Coast owner.

This week is assembly time...

The guitar has shipped. The bass is mine... until I sell it. :D

Is that a DR neon string inlay on the body?

I've been working on other types of projects lately, but tonight I got some more work in on the WRC Triple J, shielded the pickups, and opened up the wiring channels a little so I didn't have to get out the coconut oil to get all 6 wires in the little hole.

I decided to keep the copper tape on the pole pieces rather then trim it off with an exacto knife, I like how it compliments the wood tone.

I'm back to working on my travel basses; I have the first batch of headphone amplifiers ready. I have also decided to offer the headphone amp separately in a box in addition to being onboard in the travel bass (I will offer it as an option in all of my instruments).

The bodies are already under construction, now I am starting on the necks.

The necks on the SlimBass will be one piece maple with a separate fretboard. Currently I am using rosewood and maple but I will probably swap to another dark species (besides rosewood) at some point... I wanted to do something special for the first production model.

I prefer to fret the necks after the board has been glued on but I've had this fretboard sitting around for several years, it's a nice looking board so why not put it to use.

The first SlimBass is getting a 25 1/2" scale multi laminate neck (5pc. maple and purpleheart). The multi laminate blank was big enough to cut a second neck that I am using to build a 27 5/8" scale headless neck for a custom build for myself (mocked up with fretboard here). I am using Hipshot hardware on this one.

Yes. I waited until I got this together before responding...
