What's On Your Workbench?

Yessir. It's the neck position strat pickup, hence the need for the pickguard surround for it to push and pull from. I've read that the vintage ones measure 3.7, the 90s repops at 4.3 so the GFS at 4.6 seemed awful close. For the repops there were no bass specific pickups so I too a chance. Yay google and talkbass!!! I actually joined the forum because every time I googled something bass related there was a forum here about it. Hahahaha.
That one of the GFS Lipstick Pickups?

Yeah there's never been any bass specific lipstick tube pickups, Danelectro just used the same pickups for everything. I'm curious how it sounds though, I tend to go with humbuckers in the 13-20k range, but for the build off I'm looking at low output single coils and the GFS Lipstick and metal foil pickups are on the list I'm interested in.

I installed a Bigsby on a Samick Royale today. I'd forgotten how much of a massive faff a Bigsby guitar is to string up. You need three hands. I'm using a Towner tensioner rod in place of the stoptail, and it really makes a difference on the string tension. It adds just enough back angle over the saddles, and looks a lot better than empty bridge studs or holes.

This one is more like, what's not on your work bench.

Not everything we do turns out the way we want it.

I thought it fitting to give this a "Jimi Hendrix" flaming send off (lighter fluid and me on my knees) while burning yard refuse today

I have a few bodies/necks that are taking up room in my shop. I think it may be time for them to head out to the burn pile. I was thinking that I'd try to remove the truss rods first though. I'll see how industrious I am when the time comes.

Where do you find 200 year old hemlock?
Apologies, been very busy with life (and last week was the Gaither Vocal Band 20 year reunion. My wife and I are very good friends with the guitarist and vocalists, so we drove 9 hours to work. Hey, we get in for free!).
A coworker told me they had 2 11.5' beams from a store that was built in the 1800's and never did anything with them. Said I could have them. I can say that I've never worked with Hemlock before and it is a bit of a challenge. I test routed a round over on a piece of scrap and the piece basically exploded. I am going to think it was due to the wild grain, but all I know is that I will be making my forearms like Popeye by filing and sanding.

Perhaps the lamest post in this thread, but I made a "tap box" (my name) for my Canyon pedal. It's a momentary switch inside a neck cut off. I really like have the ability to tap the delay in, it expands the functionality of the pedal a lot for me. View attachment 3186106

Lame? - custom things are inherently cool!
