Not sure yet. Tomorrow will tell. I think with the individually adjustable polls it should get close. Or it will suck and I will change it. Because learning!

Once you determine your scale length; neck string spacing, pu width/pole spacing and bridge string alignment/spacing all need to cooperate with each other for the best sound. Most of the 60's Japanese pu's are for short scale basses so the spacing is narrower. Gibson style necks are more compatible with these narrower pole-spacing pu's because they're usually of narrower width than a Fender style neck. Pu's w/o poles (blades or with covers - no exposed poles) are more likely to work with different string spacings. If the poles are close to the strings even if not centered over them, they can still deliver sound but will be of a decreased output.

On your bass, you would need a different bridge to center the strings over the pu poles, but then they would all be floating in the middle of the fretboard. (big spaces at the E & G from the edges)

Totally makes sense @JIO. Thank you. I was trying to make spare parts work. Just starting building and you guys have always been helpful pointing things out. I’ll most likely change the pickup when I pull the body apart to finish it. Original plan was a stacked jazz but forgot it when we were making the body so changed the design on the fly. My error in last moment judgement. Thank you again. If I learn it now I won’t screw up as bad in the winter build off!!!

A bucker (like a Wilkinson) w/o exposed poles or bladed (more $) would work fine and you'll only need to slightly enlarge the pu rout.

I use guitar pickups on a lot of my basses and I've found 18mm bridges work well with standard necks without too much excess, I also have used this pickup Invalid Link Removed to good effect with 19mm spaced bridges.

They look good except why do they show them with chrome pu rings and then state "Does not include metal mounting ring"???

Kind of digging this location.

You may not have this same issue, but I would test drive that concept before getting too excited - I saw it done on a boutique Ritter bass so tried it on one of my custom builds and found it rubbed against my leg in an irritating fashion when playing. As cool as it looked - I relocated the jack on the lower side.

I tried to have the angle up at the strap button to try and clear that. I play with the bass pretty high. Hoping to have it mounted tomorrow night so we’ll see. Thankfully I have more pick guard material if I hate it and I haven’t drilled any hole I can’t take back. That pickup however... hahaha

I learned a lesson after I did something w/o a full assembly first before final finishing etc. Now, anything I make is assembled, played and signed-off on before final finishing.
