For some reason, maybe call it "cabin fever," I felt compelled to try and build a 51-style P bass in a day. Had a basic used neck, a poplar body blank, a sheet of tort, and random parts.

Unfortunately, it's going to be more like 4 days. And obviously, it's gonna look kinda janky ("relic" style, aka "I don't feel like making this look new, I don't have the painting skills for that or the patience, nor do I care."), but it's going to be a playable beast.

Had to go banana creme color and matching headstock (and weight reduction):

I didn't have a full bridge either, so I made saddles out of a bike axle and guitar bridge screws:

Hoping to be done by tomorrow.

Looks really cool. I like the idea of using a single jazz pickup (if that's the plan) I'd be interested to see how it sounds.

So not ON the workbench, but now part OF a workbench...
A buddy of mine gave me a speed controller for a router. My newer PC router was a soft start, so it wouldn't work. But this older one I snagged years ago at a garage sale ($20 with a desktop router setup) has been gathering dust in a cabinet. It had a really shorty cable, so it was hard to use.
That all changed today!

Now I have speed control on the table. WOOHOO!!
And the other one can now be dedicated to NOT the table.
