Nobody else would be able to get away with any of this, all in one lifetime.
Yet another "what's so great about..." thread.

One thing always stuck out to me was how politely he spoke during interviews. you'd never think looking at him, would you?

He was a pretty good in-the-pocket player too, check his work with Hawkwind, especially Space Ritual. Surprisingly tasteful and he could really lay down a good groove when it was called for. There are countless inaccurate bass covers of Motorhead tunes on Youtube where they just play power chords and ignore the fills and filigree - Killed by Death's outro is one I rarely see done right. His right hand technique was utterly distinctive as well.
From what I understand he was just a super cool guy. A great preformed. And a solid bass man with his own thing going. A unique way of approaching a bass line. There is a great documentary about him to help you understand the man. His bass playing is not for me, but I like what he did. And love the attitude and approach.
He was a unique player who stuck to his guns on how he thought a life should be lived. That alone makes him worthy of respect. I'm no fan of Motorhead but they were successful so who really wins that argument?
