Plus he still rules a stage at age 73. Now do I like "One In A Million"? No I don't But there's no underestimating his importance to moving bass forward.

We all have different tastes and different things hit us, like, dislike, etc.

But if you really want to understand LG, get yourself a copy 'Sly and the Family Stone's Greatest Hits', learn all LG's parts note-for-note, then call me back. I've never heard anyone that could warp-drive grooves staying on just one note predominantly, see 'Want to Take You Higher' or 'Stand'. 'Sing a Simple Song', that monster riff he plays was always a personal fave. And this was all before his Graham Central Days. Wow.

One of the guys that wrote the book, and a musician worshipped by one of the best, Prince.

Funny how people even mention Rick James. I think, in the grand scheme of Funk Royalty, he's maybe a court jester. Doesn't hold a candle to Graham, who practically invented it, and even Bootsy.
