what's that (great) sound?

what did they use for that funky bass sound on Stevie Wonder's Supersition?
It sounds as if the signal is a mix between dry\micro synth..or is it a real moog doubling Wood's bassline

the bass itself has some subtle filtering applied to it

No the only bass on that is synth, sounds like a moog when you solo up the track.

I was certain i read an interview with the guy (n. woods) and he said it's his fav bassline..
could be I'm just mixing up..
