whats the best bass amp

what's the best bass amp(typo corrected) give your opinion please
1. There's no such thing;
2. Most of us own it, but it's a different brand/model/version from everyone else's which proves item one to be true; and,
3. Basses sound different through different amps, regardless of what other musicians/non-musicians say.

Carvin BX500 and Genz-Benz ShuttleMax 12 could get my vote because I own both, but my basses definitely sound and "feel differently" with each. My Yamaha BBT500H STILL gets the bulk of my playing time, though, because it is rated for 2 Ohms and I like being able to mix cabinets without worrying about overheating. Plus, I love the preamp options.

What type of tones do you favor?

There are essentially two schools of thought on this one. And a few heretics.
  1. Amps that give the cleanest most faithful representation of the bass guitar. Epifani, Euphonic Audio, Acoustic Image.
  2. Amplifier has a definite voice and distinctly influences what the tone of the bass sounds like. Ampeg SVT, Mesa Bass 400, Traynor YBA1a

But the best amp is the GK 400rb. It is often less than $300 used. It's almost indestructible. Sounds great, gets loud, easy to use.

The best bass amp is one that:

1. Can be used in multiple situations,
2. has tonal flexibility to adjust to all rooms,
3. Is being portable enough for your transportation capabilities
4. Is priced within your budget
5. Is reliable, with local product support should something go wrong.

The 'best bass amp' is the one that sounds like what you want your tone to be, and what you can afford to buy...finding it involves playing thru pretty much everything in your price range and deciding from there.

Sure...Like someone can say they like the tone of a Berhinger better than an SVT????...NO, NO, NO!!...Lets just say Ampeg SVt or Aguilar DB750!!!!...all these lightweight heights you cant turn the freaken gain up past 4 without that sticken limiter light going on, thats why you see tons of them for sale left and right!!...Thunderfunk, Shuttle, LittleMark, had them all the freaken limiter light goes on constantly!!!..Get a heavy amp that can handle what you want, cause those "LIGHTWEIGHT" ones suck!!..thats why they always sell them soon as they buy them.

+1. That thing was awesome. I want one.

Gonna get one soon at that other place.

That is TOTALLY unfair! I know for a fact that you've never been to THIS place. I got one of those and I can tell you, you guys NEED this one...it's so much better than that one.

I am usually a fan of matching heads and cabs, but i played the Epifani UL 902 through a Aguilar DB 810 one day...i was blown away, tight fat thick...it was amazing.

I would say anything Aguilar makes for me takes the cake, its priced well and just works gig after gig. Plus it really does cover a wide variety of genres.
