What's The Next One?

Never have picked one. Since I won't be doing vacation anytime soon, I've got all kinds of time to pick. I've been thinking about doing one that would have great meaning for me but might not sound like anything to most of y'all.

My favorite place in the world is a folk music festival in the Texas hill country. I go every summer. This last year a few of my friends and some other people decided to do the entire Pink Floyd album The Wall live, but all in a folk, bluegrass, or Red Dirt Country style. It was epic. It went off so much better than I was afraid it would. Several of us began discussing which epic album to do next year immediately afterward. One of the leading candindates is Abbey Road.

If they do Abbey Road in the Threadgill Theater at night, I want to do She Came In ThroughThe Bathroom Window and get a pic of the audience.

If you ever get to the UK, they've built a replica of the Cavern Club in Liverpool. That's pretty historic, from a music point of view, and I don't think it would be too difficult to get the pic once you were in there.

If you visited London, Ronnie Scott's would be an obvious choice for a jazz venue shot.

The two coolest places I ever played here in D/FW are both gone. One was the coolest venue in Dallas. It was a large facility that had multiple bars, bowling alleys, and a pretty sizable concert hall all under one roof. I played a Childrens Miracle Network benefit for my largest crowd ever there. It is now torn down, and I believe they put a Home Depot there. It was called Bronco Bowl.

The other was the coolest one in Ft Worth. Several jazz, some, folk, and a few country acts cut live albums there. Some rock acts might have as well. But I don't know about them if they did. It was called Caravan of Dreams. It was taken over and turned into a restaurant.
