What's the purpose for a 85-175 string set?

Found this test video, to be used with a quality headphone set.


I start hearing the lows at 27,5 Hz (A0) and up to the highs at 8,000 Hz (C8).
F#0 is 23,125 Hz. Cannot be heard. And I'm 67 years old.
The volume is not linear, there are highs and throughs, and I don't know what are the limitations caused by my $20 headphone set.
The B-string on my 5-stringer bass is 30,868 Hz and the E-string is 41,203 Hz.
The highest note (21st fret on the G-string) is 311 Hz (Eb4).

I can hear a low F# played on a bass. You can’t @Glazenn?

You can hear the various overtones which your amp and cab are capable of reproducing.

Human hearing is broadly generalized as falling between 20-20,000 Hz. The Low F# fundamental is seriously pushing that lower limit. Not to mention that a lot of amps will have internal high pass filters hardwired in to filter out what most designers would consider useless sub-low frequencies, because most commercial bass cabs won’t be able to reproduce that low stuff anyway.

If we’re talking strictly of the fundamental, yes I agree. My acoustic B200 combo is not a high caliber piece of gear, but a friends 4 string tuned that low seems to work just fine.

A lower frequency requires more volume to hear, the test may not boost volume to compensate, you could try boosting volume yourself, however the reason is probably $20 headphones that you don't know the reproduction range of.
But of course, hearing the fundamental is irrelevant to low bass strings.
