That's not a fact, that just an assumption on your part; same as assuming people don't mind the stands at all.

Until everyone in this threads starts taking statistically valid polls at their gigs about the "professionalism" of music stands, it's all anecdotes and opinion. :p

You need to re-read my post because if you actually read the words there you'll find that it doesn't make the case either way, but rather that people not saying anything can not be taken as meaning they have no complaint. See that? The fact I referred to was that they could take nothing for granted.

C'mon man, are you gonna make me take apart the grammar of your original statement? If the "fact" you're referring to isn't

all well and good, but that's how the sentence reads.

If what you meant is that acts can't assume that people mind or don't mind one way or the other without asking them, then I completely agree.

Now, please excuse me while I go fight crime as my alter-ego, Splitting Hairs Man. :p

Schmit said plainly that, hey, people pay a lot of money to see The Eagles, and they have an expectation of how things should sound. I understand that completely. A number of years ago - in an age before pre-autotune - I saw Crosby Stills and Nash live. I was soooo exited to see them; they are a big influence on me as far as vocals go. It was a bit of a letdown as they were not on their game vocally. Hey, I perform live, it happens. Would I have enjoyed the show more if they had autotune and used it?

It's one thing to keep a book by your feet on stage that you can reference on rare occasion at a gig, but what I'm seeing are guys who have stands for their computers on stage so that they can glance down for an entire song and read the lyrics on the spot. And again, these are bands that I've seen multiple times. You'd think they'd have the words down to the same songs after 3 weeks.

Sounds like karaoke. My wife was in a coverband, and had a big book of lyrics she'd use to brush up on anything she may have been having trouble with before the gig, but that book stayed in the car once we were at the venue.
