What's With The Geddy Lee Truss Rod?

I played a GL Jazz for the first time a couple weeks ago. I can't believe how growly it was. And the neck was awesome (aside from the gloss).

Anyway, I saw what looked like a truss adjustment hole at the headstock (like on an MIM), but it was actually just a darker piece of wood made to look like one. There was no adjustment deely at the body either. So, is there no truss rod or something? I love the bass, but that's quite the dealbreaker.

And why would Fender put a faux adjustment thing on the headstock?

On the older fenders, the truss rod adjustor was at the body end. You have to remove or partially remove the neck to access it. I think fender uses modern necks on the Geddy and modifies it to be more period-accurate. Remember, the geddy lee is a 70's reissue basically.

The GL Fender is a recreation of an early '70's jazz with an added Badass bridge, just like Geddy modded his.

Thats the way Fender made their 4 bolt necks at that time. Its adjusted at the buttend with a flat screwdriver

You need a screwdriver(flathead) and no you dont need to remove the neck just the pickguard. The only thing is that with only removing the pickguard if you arent careful you might cut some wood but its cosmatic and will be covered up by the pickguard. And you being a MM person it will seem more of a hassle cause I think the trussrod adjustment on MM basses is perfect.
