It was a good post. It brought up a lot of relevant considerations that transcend dad rock. Some say you got roughed up a bit but I think this was generally pretty civil and on-topic. The big issues: how to be gracefully ignored, where to store my beautiful ego the moment I leave the bubble of my house (mind), what is a benefit, most non-musicians/organizers have no idea what musicians are/need, am I irrelevant, are we/I as good as we/I think we/I are/am, what do people want from live music/ where to put my frustration/blame for not inspiring a crowd…. These are all things we ALL deal with as performers. A surprisingly useful thread.
