What's wrong with schecter basses??

This Damien Elite 5 arrived the other day. I love it so much. I'm thinking about getting another one to replace this one, a Raiden Deluxe 5:

I love the way the Deluxe sounds w/ the P pickup but the Damien is so much more comfortable hanging from a strap, probably because of the neck-dive-resistant 12th-fret upper bout. This despite the fact that the Raiden is a pound and a half lighter. Plus, it's a looker. But for variety's sake, I'm considering an Omen Extreme 5, or maybe a white set neck ATX C-5.

The Damien sounds great with the stock EMG HZ passive pickups. I did a little soldering to enable passive bypass and wired the two MM pickups in parallel. It was the right call. Passive bypass not only gives me a solid option for when the battery runs out, it's a different tone. The MM5HZ pickups sound AMAZING in parallel mode. I didn't like them very much in series, which is stock for some reason. For MM pickups, parallel gives the classic MM sound.

I suggest anyone who isn't in love with their EMG HZ pickups to try wiring them in parallel to add a little more character and sparkle. HZ pickups usually are splittable. All you have to do is go in, find where the black and white wires are soldered and taped together. Then, white goes where red currently is (hot pickup output), and black goes where green currently is (ground). Two minute mod that might just save you hundreds of dollars in replacement pickups.

I changed the preamp in 2 of these basses (1 in standard tuning the other a half step down) to Nordstrand.
Its a killer bass with a slight mod. If I'm playing an import I'm playing one of these.

I have been searching for two new bass (used) to add in my hunting mostly GC I have found the brand, with along with Ibanez to have the largest numbers available has been Schecter and I am talking about a pretty good amount if compared others. Filter I am looking for 4 string Electric available 190 Ibanez and 70 Schecter the rest are 9 here 3 there Epiphone 40. So I too was wondering why people are getting rid of them in big numbers? I have never played one personally, but I always loved the look of the Stiletto Custom 4 with Gold hardware like this one

I have had several Schechter's, and I thought they where about as good as it got in that price range. I liked the EMG equipped ones a lot more than the "diamond" pickups. Played well, sounded good. My only negative was the bridge was a pain to adjust.

So I have two schecter basses- I have a 004 (the ricken schecter) and I have a diamond p bass. Great prices, sound is awesome, and they come stock with things other brands charge you for as options. So why do I always hear people dump on them?? Thoughts? Also is there a schecter forum that anyone knows about?

Same thing that is wrong with Dean and B.C. Rich...they started out as great companies but eventually sold out and for a period of time the stuff that was produced was "junk" and even though these companies have improved and now put out some really nice solid products....people can't get past that "Junk Period" and that is what they associate the brand name with...

Being a native Texan I can tell you that Schecter's produced between 1976 and 1983 are killer instruments...83' to 87'...meh.....98' to 2012' well let's just say it was very hit and miss (with electronics and hardware being very suspect)....2013 to present....much better stuff (especially the USA stuff)

I own a C-4 XXX and once i swapped out the crappy pick-ups, pots, jack, and pre-amp i'ts now a very decent bass....(I bought it used as my guitar player has the matching version and we thought it was a nice little gimmick)

Several Schecters I've owned, guitars and basses both, have the nut for the output jack slowly come off over time. Then you tighten it down and it slowly comes off again a bit faster, until eventually they just don't stay on very well. I'm not sure if it's the jack they use or what, or if I just got like three lemons in a row.

All three would have been circa 2005 time frame.
