My guess is that they had to replace the original 8" Speakers that were built by
Bag End (I had those in my original
SWR Baby Blue 2x8) because the originals had foam surrounds that would deteriorate over time and become unusable. SWR used
Celestion 8" Drivers in the second version of the Baby Blue 2x8 When SWR stopped production on the
Baby Blue 2x8 an
Henry the 8x8 there weren't any options for a replacement 8" bass driver. Eventually, Fatal, Ciare, and Eminence produced a 8" bass driver, but they were out of production for a long time. Incidentally,
Pyle produced the original bass speakers for the
GK 200MB combos. Obviously the replacements in this cabinet were all wrong, but Pyle did build musical instrument speakers because of their experience in car audio subwoofers in tight spaces. Just my take of course.
