What's Your Bass/Guitar's Name?

I have never named a bass. I call them what they are Jazz, Precision, Alembic, etc.

That's what I do too.

I developed the habit of naming my bass after the most attractive woman I know at the time when I buy them. Not a habit I was aware of until my last bass. Subsequently:

Aimee, Christina, Jessica

My Mexi Jazz is called Mike. I dunno why, I just called it Mike.

The first time I took my Taylor AB to a gig, the guys were thrilled with the sound and sat around trying to describe it like a bunch of wine tasters. The last comment was, "Well, it's not quite an upright sound but it does have that BIG WOODY sound." Thus it's name.

I've had hundreds, and never named a one of them.
I have several I've had for over 30 years, and not named them either.
I just refer to them by brand and model.

I don't name instruments, cars or anything else very often. Most of the time, objects are just what they are. Occasionally, an object will name itself. My de-fretted Thunderbird is slowly becoming the Birdless. Does that count as a name? If so, there you go. If not, then I have never named a bass.

My T-bird is named Ignignokt.

All my basses have names. 2nd bass i owned and still do, is an ibanez GaxB. Looks like gene's lobue bass. Named it low down cause of the great lows i can achieve with it. Precision bass copy went through a lot of different changes. From van halen inspired to simple punk. Now named riot since it sports a caricature of a riot scene between cops and rioters throwing bottles, with fire in the background. Epiphone goth series bird named purdy. And she's starting to live up to the name. just a few more modifications and she'll reflect my image. And last but not least, my 4001/4003 copy. Named positive pressure. I had a lot of things to deal with in the past and with my life going in and out of spirals, i had found a positive outlook on life and the pressure helped me accomplish more goals.

Prometheus

Named after the Greek titan who stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. My bass has lit a new fire in my heart.
