What's Your Bass/Guitar's Name?

I just started giving my basses individual names. Used to be I just called them by their brands - the Washburn, the Yamaha, the Squier. Now, though my custom 5er from John Toon is "Looney Toon," the red Yamaha BB415 is "Big Red" and the Michael Kelly ABG is "the Dragonfly," which is not creative at all as that's the model's moniker. So no, none of them have women's names at all.

How do you guys choose a name for your bass? I'd like to call my bass something but I want it to actually come from the bass itself rather than just a name I decided to attach to it.

Like when you see a person and you think 'Ooh, they look like a Ben' or whatever.

Mine came to me because on the ride home with my brand new (used) bass, I was listening to AC/DC's "whole lotta Rosie," and my bass is like a candy apple red. It fit!

I got a Vester I call Blanche. Didn't really mean to, it came naturally since I speak french and it's all white down to the fretboard (I did put neon green strings & knobs recently, looks funky). It's not very comfortable though, so 'll probably sell it once my custom order gets made.

Everyone pretty much knows the story of the GREAT B.B. King and why he named his guitar. I'm trying to think of a name for my bass.

Has anyone on the forum named their bass; please share the type of bass you have and what you named it. If you have a story behind the name, please share that also.

I only named one guitar, my Gibson Explorer 76 reissue, she was black, and it was the time, so she was called "Black Sunshine" I had the truss rod cover engraved with the name.

My Geddy Lee Jazz bass is named Geddy, I know not original, lol. Have not named the American standard jazz yet.

I have never named a bass. I call them what they are Jazz, Precision, Alembic, etc.

My Carvin is called "The F clef", mostly because they offered an engraved truss rod cover... I had to put something.

Other than I just refer to them as my Fender, the Ray, and the (Ding)Wall. I also have a piece of spit most people refer to as a Squier VM fretless jazz though.

Uh, no its not. Plus it's totally gauche when you name your own. its your partner's responsibility, unless you are becoming MUCH TOO FRIENDLY with it yourself, then you must seek professional help.

My first bass was named The Resonator by the first owner. When I replaced the neck I changed the name to The Resonator 2: Judgement Bass, which was shortened to The Judge.

My Squier MusicMaster is named Snoopy, because the original white pickguard looked (vaguely) like Snoopy.

My CIJ Fender Mustang is named Nutsukow, meaning "white warrior," this is from the movie "Kickboxer."
