Whats your current music kick?

Peter Gabriel has been my "current music kick" for over 30 years now!

A co-worker turned me on to Porcupine Tree last week. Never heard of them before ... showing my age. He burned me 2 CDs (Deadwing and In Absentia) on Thursday and I've been wearing them both out since. Some really nice bass lines to play along to.

To bump a really old thread of mine... I didn't want the "use the search function" nazis all over me.

I've been on a garage rock kick for about 9 months now. For my 12th birthday my brother put music on my ipod, and it was mostly Arctic Monkeys and older Kings of Leon. So I've always liked it, but never knew what it was called.

About a year ago I found The Strokes. They quickly became my favorite band. I've been to them every day now for the past 9 months and there is not a single song I am sick of (except off of Angles, but I didn't like that album to begin with). I also went on a search for more bands that sound like them.

As of today, my spotify "garage rock" playlist is creeping up on the 1K mark of songs, Not a single one I dislike. Its filled with pretty standard garage rock bands: Arctic Monkeys, Japandroids, Black Lips, Kings Of Leon, Jay Reatard, Ty Segall, The White Stripes, etc. But I've also thrown in some groups who aren't really garage rock, but sound pretty similar to those bands in some aspects such as: Phoenix, DIIV, Dead Ghosts, Tame Impala, Vampire Weekend and some others.

I listen to this playlist every morning from the time I wake up to when I walk out the door to school. Turning it on is the first thing I even do when I get home from school and I listen to it till I go to bed.

Porcupine Tree are amazing.
"Fear of a Blank Planet" is probably my favourite album by them.

Also, I'd suggest Steven Wilson's collaboration with Mikael Ackerfeldt (from OPETH): Storm Corrosion.

And then, if you like that, then listen to Opeth.
Actually, just go out and listen to Opeth because they're amazing. haha.
