I'm an electrical engineer and I'm involved in the design of sonar systems used to do acoustic imaging of the sea bed. We essentially use sonar to take virtual core samples below the sea floor for offshore oil or windfarm installations as well as for assessing and finding problems in subsea cables and pipelines.

That's actually true. I'm a stay-at-home dad for a child with special needs. I'm lucky that my wife did her grad degree in E.E. and makes good money while I did mine in African History, which is a less lucrative field to say the least.
