What's your favorite Rat-style distortion?

I gotta say I never thought much of rat's being used on bass judging by demos I've heard before, but 2 in particular caught my attention, a video of a guy playing a jazz bass through an 86 version, and the fuzzrocious rat tail.

I've been on a obsessed dirt quest for the last few years, and I wrote off the rat pedals as terrible for bass, but in fact the 86 version is the exact sounds I've been looking for, much different from their other versions. The rat tail/king seems to be the closest I can get as it sounds very similar to the 86 proco at certain settings,unfortunately as with most pedal demos, the fuzzrocious demo doesn't sit on any one setting long enough for me to tell 100%, hopefully it can get that same cutting grind I dig about the 86 version, man, GAS is a PITA!!!

I cant believe I missed this thread. Anyway, I liked the Rat in the OFD. Really tweakable. But at this point I guess I would have to say my Blower Box is my fav. I love that thing, its so raunchy and mean. I added the boost John K sent me and man does that thing kick! I recently got a Vick Audio 85 Classic Rat, based off the White Face reissue by ProCo. I used it last night at practice for the first time. The low end loss was a real let down. Someone suggested I try it in a clean blend. Which Im going to tonight. I think that will help considerably. Ive had a regular ProCo Rat and it stayed on my board for one week and one practice. It just wasnt what I thought it would be. That was a long time ago though. I wanted to like that pedal so much but it was lost in the mix for me and the low end was non existent. I also had a Rat King I was partial to for a bit but it too got lost in the mix at times and didnt use it that often. But it was pretty cool. I would have to say the Blower Box is my fav so far. The Vick may be a winner too after I try it with the clean blend.
