Tough question. It would be my 63 P. Sounds and plays amazing and has intangible qualities. If I had to sell the 63 for finances I would def keep my CS Pino Palladino P. The Pino is the closest bass I've played to my 63. Here are pics of both:

What's your one true "Forever Bass"?

After a long time, it's come down to this Epi EB-0, strung with D'Addario ETB92S Nylons.
It would be my poor, beat-up 1986 Pedulla Buzz. I'm thinking of refinishing it ... Someone else stripped all the finish off, including the logo. I hate that, but it's probably the only reason I could afford it. I threw a few vinyl stickers on it to liven it up a little for now. It's ugly, but still plays and sounds like a Buzz.
My 1979 Spector NS-2... It is a magical bass. I have owned it for about 30 years now.
Forever is a mighty long time…
I'd hate to have to choose between these two, both scratch different itches. The Warwick is an incredible instrument, and from a rational perspective it's the obvious choice. However, in the short time I've owned it the Tokai has captured my heart. I think it's partly due to the work I've done to customize it to my taste; after investing time/effort/¥ it feels like it's really mine. Having been around for 40 years the edges of the fretboard also feel nicely worn in.

I have my forever bass. 10 years, now. Just a Jazz 5. Nuttin special to anyone but me. Her name is Bertha. Bertha Jazz. I will admit to trading another "forever " bass for her, as I limit myself to owning two basses. A fretted and a fretless. It was a Ken Smith Custom CR-G 6 string Elite. Fretted. I couldn't keep both. Honestly, where I am as a player? It wasn't a tough choice. My Jazz is the best bass ever made. For me. I call her my "Wife". I've a Mistress, as well. My fretless G&L M2500. We kinda just met. Tho I am enamored of her? I'll always come back to the Wife. 11.5lbs of Alder an Maple. Or? Two Tons of Fun. Ha!
