What bass do you have that would be your one and only, go to, forever bass?
Just curious. I have had many over the years, and just thinking what it may be if I were to have only one to fit all.... Hmm...

After forty years of buying, selling and trading, I’ve concluded that I’m incapable of owning a “forever” instrument. I wish I were capable of committing to one as it would save me a lot of money. :)

It's a bass, not a wife. I don't have to love just one. Sometimes Sadowsky, sometimes Fender, Gibson, Rob Allen. All so lovable.

Well, it said custom when I bought it, but I added the abalone control knob, fretboard block stickers and the pickguard.
Oh, yeah, the toggle-switch caps, too.

In about 1984, I bought a used Fender ash Jazz ('76) with P neck ('73). They had slapped on the obligatory Bad Ass bridge, and @&($$_ed up the original finish, taking off the pickguard, sloppily filling with putty, and brushing on lacquer. Also a Dimarzio alnico neck pickup.

I played it that way for over 30 years, then restored the finish two years ago. If it wasn't for the fact it is close to 12 pounds, it would be the only fretted bass I would ever play. Still gigged regularly.

I can't. Not selling, never will, my Dingwall SJ5XXX (custom build), Roscoe Signature SKB 3005, Lull T5, or the CS '59 NOS P, which I also commissioned.

And my '66J, dont care for it (had it since '84 and am second owner), and it's going to my only son.
