What's Your Stereo Rig?

I've been using this rig for some years, used it without preamp. (Bass - Effect - Poweramp)

Now replaced by two SWR Bassic Black combo's, which are much easier to transport :-)
Also now I have more control over tone with the preamp sections.

I have modded the Alembic power supply with an additional 1/4 input, that signal is split to both outputs. The Series I input works like normal (separate channels for each pickup)

Before I sued the Mesa rig I had the Bassic Black combo for the neck pickup and used a Laney powered monitor (12 inch speaker) for the bridge pickup.
Obviously the Mesa rig blew that combination of the planet :-)

I will have my first session with the SWR's this Tuesday, have only tried it solo once . (had a heavy surgical procedure last week, a couple of days after I got the second combo)

The dry/wet effects combination sounds great, I have a Digitech studio quad which is ideal for such a setup. (up to four separate effects channels)
In my other rig I have a Lexicon MX400 which has two separate channels, better sound quality but switching (with Midi pedal) is a bit more complex. (you'll need a pedal that can send two program change commands on separate midi channels)

Here she is in all her glory. A relic from a bygone era now that tiny amps are all the rage. Now for the run down:

The signal from my pedal board is split into two parallel signals as follows

The Lows:

I send a dedicated pre-effect signal into the small Rolls crossover directly under the power conditioner. Though it is a crossover, I use it as a low pass filter. I get rid of everything above 250hz and treat this as my dry signal. The signal is then sent to the Peavey Kosmos unit for sub harmonic synth. I leave that on always. I like it because it replaces the sub-100hz stuff bass tends to lose as you climb the fret board. Sending 250hz to the sub-harmonic synth can give a slight octave effect, so I counter this by sending the signal into channel 1 of the EQ. I set the EQ to filter out 150-ish hz and above. This leaves only the synthesized lower octave waveform of the 250hz signal without actually letting that mid-order stuff through. I also scrap everything below 40hz, and even bring down the 40hz slider a little bit. After that, the low end signal passes through channel one of the Dbx 166XL set to a 6:1 ratio that maxes out at around 8db of gain reduction. That signal goes into one side of a passive rolls ABY box and into the Crown Xti2000. I also have a DI inserted before the Crown to send that clean signal to the house desk.

The highs:

These go through my board and then into the Demeter VTBP-201 tube preamp. After the preamp, I send the signal to channel 2 of the EQ. I cut everything below 100hz hard here hard (-24db) and will usually cut 100hz around -5db. This is to prevent low end frequency build-up with the dedicated clean/lows channel. My EQ has essentially become a really fancy crossover at this point. I also tend to cut everything above 4k pretty hard, too. The rest of the EQ is to the room/taste. Sometimes I notch 400hz, sometimes I don't. It really depends.

From the EQ, my signal then goes to channel 2 of the Dbx compressor. I compress the highs a lot lighter than I do the lows. Gain reduction is typically 2db MAX and it really is only there to control spikes from effects. Ratio is 2:1. After that, it goes into the other side of that passive Rolls ABY I mentioned early, and then into the crown as a combined signal with lows. I then place and SM57 of one of my cones to be sent to the FOH desk as well. I like the 57 because it naturally filters out sub 100hz frequencies, which I am already sending to the FOH in the form of my Clean/Low DI.

The Crown is set to link channel 1 and 2 (not bridge) for a combined total of 950w into 8 hartke 10" XL speakers. As for balancing the two channels, I use the output gain on each side of the compression. The system works pretty well. It always sounds great, and can get real low down into 40hz territory with authority. The whole system is also ridiculously heavy...

I was running an ampeg 610, and a 18" sub off a stereo set up though. It sounded amazing. I had the crossover set at 80 hz, so everything over that would be pushed through the 610 and everything under was being sent to the sub. It was perfect, but a pain in the booty to lug around and set up. So, I traded everything in for my 4 12 TC set up. Never been happier.

I am still contemplating what I want to do with my stereo rig. I want to run from my Strymon Flint into two heads and cabs. I already have a Tone Hammer 500 and two mirror imaged LDS 1-10+6.5 mid cabinets so I really just need another Tone Hammer 500 and I will be good to go for stereo effect from the Strymon. None of my basses have ROS so that is not a reason to go stereo for me.
