What's Your Stereo Rig?

I'd be interested to see what kind of rig ('s) @StereoPlayer has......but I haven't seen him post here in a long time
I lurk a lot. Don’t post much.

I have downsized a bit. But use two 210 cabs....

Bass/neck PU:
1- 104 Markbass 8 ohm cab
With a Momark Markbass head-500 watts @ 4 ohms(250~ watts @ 4 ohms)

Treble/bridge PU:
1- 104 Markbass 4 ohm cab
With a Momark Markbass head-250 Watts@ 4 ohms

Most of the time, I use effects only on the treble/bridge PU.

I usually set up the cabinets stacked, I put the bass/neck PU on the bottom. The treble/bridge PU on the top.
FOH guys usually don’t like me.....
I don’t want my cabs on separate sides of the stage....

It’s really not stereo in the truest sense, ric-o-sound or stereo by other names.
I use a self made cable, tip/ring/sleeve.
I usually re-wire any two PU bass I have this way. Have guitars this way too.

When a two PU mono instrument is use with both P’U’s selected, it’s a compromised sound from my desired sound.
With a stereo output....complete control of each PU’s sound setting.

For me, it’s the only way to play. Complete control of your sound. Many compliments from listeners.
I always wanted to use two more amps and bi-amp each signal.( sort of quad).

I know, I know....it’s too complicated for a lot of players. It’s really not though. What else do we bass players got to do?
No one cares but me anyways.

I recently was given a 25 watt Fender guitar amp. Might ad it on my treble Pu circuit.
Or on a line out on some pedal or effect. Undetermined.

I’m not opposed to using different amps/heads/combos, but I usually can eq any speaker/amp to my liking.

I set the bass/neck PU to a full warm bass sound with some treble/mids.
I set the treble/bridge PU to a bridge treble sound with some mids. I like the sound on the weak/thin side. I rarely play with just the treble PU alone.

For a really neat setting: roll off the treble/tone on the neck PU or set the amp to an extreme bassey setting.
Run the treble PU full open.
Boom!

If I only use one amp, I use an amp head with two channels/eq’d each.
The Momark has interchangeable modules. I install two channel pre and eq modules.

Thanks for reading, thanks @Helix

Pics to follow.

My effects board splits my signal dual mono (1 affected, 1 unaffected), each channel is mixed then sent to my pedalboards r/l output dual mono to two different amp systems.

One amp system (Trace Elliot AH500X into a Trace 4x10 and 2x15) handles the low end, the Trace AH250S drives the Trace 4052h 4x5 for the high end. I use the volume and eqs on each head to blend and adjust the final sound.

No mud. All the deep low B I could want, effects are clear and the output breaks things... literally.

What's Your Stereo Rig?

Here's my quadrophonic system

This is what I am currently using for effects.

pedal.jpg

1 - First I run into an equalizer

2 - Then I split the signal into 4 parallel signals with a rolls mixer.

3 - I run one of the parallel lines into the Line6 bass pod where I model an acoustic 360 with a rat or big muff distortion pedal. I use this to get a retro growlly distorted sound. Or I also model an Ampeg fliptop with the Rat Distortion pedal. And I also Model an old Marshall amp. With the bass pod I can get a wide range of clean or dirty sounds and various effects and model different amps and speaker cabinets.

4 - The second parallel signal goes into a MXR bass di+. I use this pedal to get a clean modern sound. It also has a distortion button that can give a moderate to extreme amount of modern distortion.

5 - The third parallel signal goes into a Marshall Guv'nor. This gives me an old 60s marshall stack sound. This can go from a small amount of distortion to an over the top marshall sound. This effect can give you a the classic Jack Bruce Cream tone.

6 - The fourth parallel signal goes into a Tech21 VT Bass pedal. With this effect I get a slightly dirty Ampeg SVT bass amp sound with a tube like growl.

7 - Then I remix the 4 signals back together and run it into a bass amp, or pa, or studio mixer. Because the signals are parallel I can mix clean and overdriven sounds together and still get effect and a sound that punches through the mix.

I then plug it into any amp to get my tone

I don't typically post about this unconventional setup on here for fear of TalkBass retaliation. I use this in a trio, I can get some really cool effected high end while holding down the super low. Playing this way is a tricky thing to do, but insanely rewarding when it works.

P-Bass -> MXR 196 A/B ->

A. -> Ernie Ball Volume -> Q-Tron+ -> Whammy -> Small Stone -> DR1 -> TS9 -> MXR Comp -> Ditto -> Line6 POD -> Ampeg Micro VR -> Ampeg SVT 210HE or custom HT212

B. -> BBE MaxCom -> Eden WT 800 -> Ampeg SVT 15HE & Ampeg SVT 18

The Eden WT800 then splits the B channel again, above 100hz to Ampeg 15, below 100hz to Ampeg 18. This is the big 18, not the shallow 1st gen 18. My need for 40hz quickly blew the OEM 18 driver so its been replaced. It now functions more like a PA sub.

Super fun!!

This one combines the two preamps before the (stereo) effects loop.... So you can have a preamp section for each pickup, but it's not possible to send them through separate sides of the power amp.

I can. Maybe I have a "special" one. :woot:

Unless I am missing your point, the WJBPII is a STEREO preamp. I can run my Rickenbacker (Ric-O-Sound), or my Chapman Stick and have two discreet signals going to a stereo power amp.

Simply pan Channel 1 fully L and Channel fully R.

Or for Mono: Realist pickup and DPA 4099 on my Double Bass, and combine the two.

Extremely high-end and flexible.

Ah, I missed the pan! :-)
Then it would be a great option indeed, thanx for setting me straight.
I've looked at that one before and dismissed it because of my wrong evaluation, now its a candidate for my dream rig again. (though competing with the Alembic F-2B)

I run a wet/dry rig.
Bass into splitter - Line 1(wet) goes through pedalboard into Peavey VB2/Genz Benz 2x15.
Line 2 (dry) through an OD into Ampeg BA115HP

I am going to be making some changes in this rig soon that will allow me to more easily scale it up or down as needed.
