What's Your Stereo Rig?

What amps are you using and what kind of effects are you running on the Highs?
That's more or less the setup I've been thinking of, (1) 18" ported sub and (2) 10 - 12" open back/ convertible guitar speakers per cab.

I use a Carvin BX1500 and all effects are looped before the crossover, so they go to both amps. Of course some effects have more emphasis in the highs, as it's crossed over at about 160Hz.
The folded horn is a Bill Fitzmaurice design. The Jack 15 lite is a 36 Lb. Front facing design.
The 4x10" cab is a Carvin 4x10 open back guitar cab. It has sweet alnico speakers and is awesome with guitar also.

I picked up a 610 and an svt4pro a few weeks ago. The svt4pro can run stereo but I would like to do the clean and dirty cab so I’m thinking of getting the GED2112 to take advantage of duel amps in the 4pro. I’ve been playing with different cab arrangements...stacked on their sides gets it to 810 height but feel I loose some of the lows with the ports on their sides.

Also been playing with duel v4b’s thru duel 610’s using ric o sound... absolutely killer sounding. For fun running the neck pick up straight to a v4b bass heavy and the bridge thru my old big muff that I hadn’t used in years into more midrange less bass. The duel v4b’s seem to be a bit more thunderous than the 4pro...seems like it should be the opposite...maybe cab configuration?

Gig Friday and Saturday not sure what setup I’ll run...either one will be overkill for sure.

Tech 21 Sansamp GED-2112 preamp/Crest CA9 stereo power amp/Two Mesa Powerhouse 212s. I'll be running the "Drive" channel of the preamp into Channel A, powering one of the 212s, the "Deep" channel into Channel B, powering the other 212.

I guess I'm not actually running a true stereo setup, but I'm using a stereo power amp to run a "Dirty" tone and a "Deep" tone simultaneously.

No Bridge/ Neck or Effected/ Un-effected signals.

I notice that both the Rigs so far are matched have any of you tried going with a different style cab for each signal?
Fender Super Twin, (I just use the amp), Stewart World 1.2, QSC RMX-850, Avatar 1510 cab, Edmar 2x15" loaded with Eminence BassLite C2515s, Carvin LS1801 sub. I hook these up in all kinds of combinations, but once it's loud enough the whole "Stereo" thing becomes inconsequential.

This thread is getting me motivated to set up a "solo 6 string" setup. I'm thinking 2.1 though (stereo and "sub").

I would start with probably either my Genz ShuttleMax or my Trace AH 600-12. From the loop out of either one, I would go to a dbx crossover. The mono sub would go straight back to the loop in. The stereo "highs" would go probably to my Ensoniq DP4 which is actually a 4 channel, 4 unit effects processor, that can be configured for 4 mono channels, regular stereo (through 4 units), or 2 pairs of stereo channels (each through 2 units). For this I would just use stereo ins and outs through all 4 units. The thing has fantastic modulations, delays, and reverbs.

I have an ancient pair of JBL 2 way 12s that sound pretty good, and the 12s are sort of designed to be a little less "hifi"/PA and a little more guitar/bass/keys.

So I can run those from an ART SLA4, which is 4 channels but can be bridged to 2 (280w at 8 ohms per side I believe, in other words way more than enough for this application, the JBLs are only 200w each).

I would put the JBLs on either side of whatever "sub" cab I end up using, but for proof of concept I'll probably just use my Genz STL 210T. I have some other cabs that would be bigger and bassier sounding that if this all works I will probably test and check out. But for convenience and portability, it would be hard to beat the Genz cab.

Both the Trace and Genz heads have clean and dirty channels so that offers a lot of options. Then I have a variety of pedals, including some octave and filter stuff, fuzz, compression, and more. So I'm thinking this setup could sound pretty massive and really get the most out of a 6 string. And it would still weigh way less than an SVT and 8x10. The only thing I would need to figure out is what to do to tame the treble out of fuzz and distortion sounds (which probably needs a full on 3 way tri-amp setup, or maybe just some speaker response style EQ in a loop with any dirt source).

I was just going to post the pic of my Dual Channel rig and let people puzzle through it, but that might be torture.

So here we go (description below)...

Firewall Bass Rig- Early 2000s.JPG

From my Yamaha BBN-4 wired for stereo with a pair of DiMarzio DP123 J PUPs

Bridge PUP -
1. Stereo input breakout box
2. Channel Alesis 3630 compressor
3. Tech 21 Sans Amp GT-2
4. Pedal Board, "Top Channel" FX
- DOD volume pedal
- Boss DS-2 Turbo distortion (with gain selector foot switch)
- Boss FT-2 dynamic filter
- Boss TR-2 tremolo
- Boss DC-2 Dimension C
Back to rack
- Digitech RDS 2000 delay (on/off & top/btm switching at pedalboard)

Trace Elliot GP7SM 200 (power section only via FX rtn)
Custom 212 cab with Eminence Legend 125 speakers

Neck PUP -
Bridge PUP -
1. Stereo input breakout box
2. Channel Alesis 3630 compressor
3. Trace Elliot GP7SM 200 (preamp section with FX send to pedal board)
4. Pedal Board, "Bottom Channel" FX
- Boss OC-2 Octave pedal
- Morley Optical Volume pedal
- Boss SYB-3 Bass Synth
- Boss BF-2 Flanger
Back to Rack
- Digitech RDS 2000 delay (on/off & top/btm switching at pedalboard)

SWR ST-800 power amp (bridged)
SWR Workingnam's 410 (tweeter off!)

It was loud. The top channel could easily keep up with (and sound like) two guitars any day!

The bottom channel, even with "just" a 410, could rattle the clubs in the day.

Cut to Last year though...

07 The naked EDO.jpg

Simplicity, and in MONO for the time being!

Unfortunately (fortunately?), the RBI preamp died after a long an painful death after being on life support (new ribbon cables).

The ST-800 is STILL my go to amp power amp (soon to be retired), driven by Ampeg SCR-DIand Tronographics Rusty Box...

So why do folk want to run a stereo bass (serious question). It seems to me most of the setups here seem to be more variations on a bi-amping theme than true stereo, which I associate with having channels panned left and right, and then the image dynamically positioned or spread between the two, often with some kind of modulated FX.

If you run pickups into separate channels and eventually drivers without any kind of crossover, are you at risk of phase cancellation type effects?
I used the neck PUP for the deep and real bass guitar "sound", while the neck PUP went through a lot of guitar-based effects and such in order to thicken things up in either a power trio or when a song just "needed it".

My rig was never really STEREO in the true sense of left and right channels.

Geddy Lee and Chris Squire did it this way for many years!

Been playing around with this setup, splitting the 810 and having each v4b running separate 410’s. Works great if the cab is on it side.

I’m working on another stereo setup will report back in couple days
I've tried using my SVT810 on its side like that, but found that it just didn't sound the same as that one "Tower of Depth" standing stright up. I'll probably be adding either a 2x12 or 2x15 with a "guitar-like' bit of amplification, should I decide to go for broke again.

But TWO V4B's AND an SCR-DI???? Awesome!!!

Ok so I’m reading that we are running wet n dry

Only way to hear Tru stereo may be with a pan-pedal to pan /sweep L/R as desired

Stereo rig in the works. EA Wizzy MLIne 4ohm cab with Quilter BB800. I was so impressed with the tone of this rig I ordered another Wizzy MLine and BB800. This setup just OOOZES old school! I can run it either true stereo or I can use it mono with one Quilter for each cab. Either way will be 1600 watts!! (also planning on using the Quilters with other cabs that can handle the watts) I'll be using a Zoom MS-60B for any effects.
