When animals strike!!

So the dog decided to pee In the practice space (was her territory so to speak) and it got right into my nice braided bass cable. Needless to say I cleaned it and now I put the board up.

However, dang dog peed again and my cable was hanging off my rig!! :rollno::banghead: Once again if got soaked. And once again I cleaned it and made sure to put everything up. The floor has a slight dip in it and it goes straight into my things if I'm not careful. At least my amp has wheels:rollno:

Anyone else experience animals getting into your gear?

About 10 years ago I picked up a new acoustic guitar. The case had a plush purple liner, very soft to the touch. I had the guitar out for a couple days and the case was on the floor, open. My cat immediately found the spot to his liking and adopted it as a bed. I wouldn't have cared much but he was shedding badly and leaving all sorts of fur behind, and I chased him out two or three times.

He took revenge when I wasn't looking. On the third day I went to close up the case and store it in a closet, and found he had taken a moist dump on the liner. I had to commend him on his placement - he clearly tried to stage it for maximum visual effect. It was a major pain to clean, but it cured me of leaving open instrument cases anywhere. I'm obsessive about keeping them closed now.

So today the cat decided to get into a bin that was full of cords, headphones, and other band things and he peed right in the bin.

We had to spray Everything but I swear this is a lesson on checking your gear so bad things don't happen :rollno:

our late cat, jeep, had the strongest and sharpest claws west of the mississippi. he decided my carvin redline combo was a scratching post, and over time we gave up - he got under amp covers with ease. ultimately he dug the rat fur off and dug deep into the wood on both front corners. there's about 8 inches of gouging on the left side, and it's deeper, but there's 9 inches of gouging on the right. it looks horrible, and he damaged the rat fur enough to where i can't seem to get it even slightly clean even with a vacuum cleaner.

funny thing is we took some pride in jeep's aggression - i'm not sure why. he was feral, born of generations of feral cats, and we rescued him at birth when his mother abandoned him. many are the tales of damage and injury he caused despite the fact that he was a small cat. he once tore up a vet's assistant's arm so badly that she was sent to the hospital for 15 stitches. we really miss him, but his legend lives on.

Oh, and my own, rather mediocre story:

When our lab was a puppy, and testing her teeth on just about everything she could find, she found my guitar sitting in a stand. Thankfully she left the guitar alone.

The stand wasn't so lucky. I'm still searching for some of that spongy rubber, nonreactive tubing to fix it.

These days her interaction with music gear is usually just with her nose, especially when I've been out of the house with it. I also tend to keep instruments kind of deep in a room she doesn't go into much
