When during your day do you play bass?

Just a random question.But when do you pick up your bass and play? Do you play in the Morning or when your home from work? Just curious.

When my wife goes out for an hour to garden or do yoga. That’s when I can crank it.

Usually for several hours between the times Beautiful Wife and I each go to bed... typically between 2200 and 0130.

As I have a day job, I only have time in the evenings. After dinner I go to my practice room for 1,5 hour. At the end of the evening, when it is quiet in the house, I play a bit silently. Same in the weekends.

Usually around 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. on Friday or Saturday night.

Seriously, I'm so busy these days, the amount of time I play at any gig is WAY more than the combined amount of time I get to play the rest of the week (or two weeks). I have to squeeze in actual practice if I need to learn a song or two.

Now that I'm retired, it's usually before lunch and late in the evening, so twice a day. I practice through my processor and headphones, so the neighbours can't hear a thing.

I usually practice between 5:30 and 7:00 AM. I get up early and play in my office through headphones

Lately I’ll pick up around 5am and do the “grunt work” (scales, technique, sight reading) and maybe a few SBL lessons for an hour and I’ll grab up again around 5-7pm for a half hour or so to just jam along with music or a drum track.

I’m also retired. I do an hour or so before lunch, and another hour or more in the evening. I play at lower volume, the Rumble 100 doesn’t get above 9, so no concerns about the wife or neighbors.

I play on the week days after I get home from the office the weekends are when I get the time day or night, but I always put in at least 3 hours on the weekends.

Whenever I have time. I use headphones so it's a non issue for me.

I practice through headphones, so I don't disturb neighbors, so: Whenever I feel like it.

If I have a specific gig/audition to prep for, I'll typically put in several sessions throughout the day. In this situation, if the need for prep is urgent (sub gig with little time to prep), the sessions could be any where from 7am to 10pm and will be as many as I can physically tolerate.

If I'm just keeping fresh, it's usually a session in the morning (9ish) but could be after lunch as well.

Whenever I can.

When my gf isn't annoyed I play at home when I feel like it. When I'm out and about or even flying I regularly bring a Ubass in a case and play it any chance I get, even walking through the airport.

I practice sometime between 10 AM and 4 PM. Usually I'm done by 2 because I like to take a break then and relax. Actual rehearsals around here usually run from 6:30 to 9:00 PM, so I'm normally practicing whatever it is I'm going to need to know for the week's rehearsals and gigs.

If there are no rehearsals or gigs this week then I'll be practicing whatever I need to know for the next upcoming gig(s), whenever those are. Or I'll be working in a book or doing some exercises that I think might be useful.

All/any. When I’m working at home it’s leaned precariously on a bookshelf in easy reach. Some days I may pick it up 20 times. I try to practice, that’s usually early evening.

I get home from work around 3:30pm, pour a beer and I'm playing bass by 3:40 until 5-ish when my wife gets home. Always going over the band repertoire. I play every weekday and I'll typically get at least an hour each weekend day; usually playing unplugged and trying to learn something I couldn't do before. Keeps me out'a trouble!

when do you pick up your bass and play?

when i'm at my computer (almost everyday) i have several axes within arm's reach, on stands, and i pick them up and play anytime i get the urge:
- checking out bass parts/lines i hear online.
- reading through a part i've wanted to master...the little-by-little approach.
- if my fingers/hands feel sore: i pick it up to make sure 'things are OK'.
- for the he[[ of it.

i do actual practice sessions in the same spot, usually, but those are focused, with a goal in mind.
