So I explained why, he askEd for my address, and said I'm not on his route but he knew the guy who was. I told him I was expecting a bass and he laughed because he was a bass player too!

I actually had one delivered and the guy was supposed to leave it on the enclosed front porch and he just leaned it against the front of the house, I saw this on my security cam from the office I frantically called everyone in family to see who was free to go and get it and put inside, I was in a cold sweat till my daughter grabbed it and brought it in the house. and yeah I reported the driver because he did not follow the delivery instructions

I voted for "I just wait" because too many times in the past my hopes go up when it says "out for delivery", only to be delivered the next day:mad:

So Anyway, when I first started buying from online, I had an arrangement with my daughters.

If there was a large rectangular box on the porch when they got home from school, they were to take it downstairs and put it in the storage room. This service cost me dearly, and I always had to pay off both the little blackmailers.
And they'd usually let it slip to Mrs. Hurricane anyway.
Dang kids.

I came late to the party when I went looking for the James Johnston Sig Squier Jazz. I finally found a new one in a music store in the LA suburbs, and bought it. I'm never in THAT big a hurry so I had it sent 'free delivery', which is almost always 'ground' shipping, in this case UPS.

They shipped late afternoon the same days as promised; I gave it a day or two to find it had made it from LA to Memphis, not that far away from me here in Nashville. Two days later, I'm looking for it, get the online tracker only to find . . . . it was shipped BACK to the point of origin in LA where the store had shipped from originally.

Really?

So I call UPS, and the guy cut me a break, said it was their mistake, and air-shipped it straight to Nashville on their nickel. I was home when the guy dropped it off (boxed, but not in a case or bag), and the look of the box was not promising at all. I had him stand by while I opened it, and it was just fine. Sometimes you just get lucky.

I always take 'free shipping' (again, usually 'ground' shipping) and generally check just enough to try and be home when it's 'out for delivery'. Check it every couple hours? Not this kid.

I get kind of OCD when I'm expecting a delivery. But I blame the times the UPS or Fedex guy left a sticky note on my door without even knocking. It isn't as easy to earn someone's trust the 2nd time around. :smug:

It's weird how when you see "Out for Delivery" in the tracking info you can suddenly hear EVERY car that drives by, and they all potentially sound like delivery trucks.

last time i had a bass arrive (a squier mini precision), i watched on the UPS realtime map as the driver was almost here, then turned around and went elsewhere - three times! the suspense of whether it was going to be delivered or not that day was driving me crazy :hyper:

I check a lot.

A. They are super quiet and I miss them and they don't leave it

B. they leave it but it could get snatched by a theif

C. I'm probably on a 2nd line call with nature, right as they show up.

I sat on the front porch from 5:15pm onwards and the UPS truck finally came at about 5:50pm! I was the third to the last stop - dang it, why can't I ever be first :laugh: Now it's time to learn how to play fretless...
