Yeah, but you'd be doing it under your breath - more importantly - he's not playing for free for you.
If you get kids to play for you for free - your going to get... wait for it... kids playing for you for free (funny how that works) - and all that entails.
So, while I don't agree with all the commenters who think this is an opportunity to slag someone's religion (not to mention the OP who has the beef), that PARTICULAR pastor (and other members) is an idiot and deserves a good swift kick in the pews.
I ended up not using it to avoid the scene but for gospel I like to use the delay and vibrato for some of the mellow transitions. I don't need it but I feel like I can add to the music with some effects.
Then, by all means, use those effects! In church, it's all about creating a worshipful music experience.
Yeah man and that's all I try to do. I'm all about tasteful performance and the last thing I want to do is make a worship service about me
Well that's you and that's fine. Other people don't mind carrying extra stuff if they find it useful, whether it's useful or not to you isn't relevant to the situation.Heh.

One of the things I'm looking at doing is grabbing a wider deck to fit some more pedals on bur also thinking about putting some of my set and forget pedals on the bottom of the deck now that I've gone to a bypass looper. Lots of possibilities with just that little added height. I appreciate the complement!
I wouldn't say this in church, but one time somebody asked me where I got my left-handed doubleneck bass. I didn't feel much like talking about gear, so I just said "I dunno much about it, I stole it". Heh. That ended the conversation right there.
Yeah, technically it is relevant because it's an opinion on the situation as is the other 300 posts here.

Well that's his choice. He started the thread, he can do what he wants. Always someone with an anti-pedal agenda has to pipe in whenever pedals are discussed. It's just annoying that nobody can put up a thread that involves pedals without it.
These posts show that you're fine, both as a musician and as a person, it's the uppity folks at the church that have the problem.

If they don't appreciate you helping out, then they can do without, IMO.
The only reason I don't always bring my pedalboard to some things is lack of room, I don't care what someone else thinks about it.
I'd use 'em in church if I could, but there's no room for them at all in my situation with the youth choir.

It's not a matter of being 'sensitive', 'anti-pedal agenda' is a perpetual annoyance around here, primarily, of course, in the effects forum, so much so that a non-negative Nancy rule was implemented there. For the longest time, whenever there was an ernest inquiry about pedals(mostly by newbies), some curmudgeon just had to chime in about "pedals? Don't need 'em" with an implied "and you don't either" tone. It didn't add anything to the conversation, and just got old. If someone doesn't like like pedals, fine, don't use them, but if someone else wants to experiment and think outside the box, it's nobody business but their own. The "dagnabit, think like I do" mentality that would pop up had become tiresome.
LOL. Every hobby has it's 'Less Filling, Tastes Great' crowd. You're not gonna change that. I can't believe that pedals vs non-pedals is actually a thing but if it is then so what. I really don't care what you or anyone else does. If you actually read the thread you'll realize that. You and the other guy being so adamant about it is hilarious.
