A '66 Jazz for $2800? For that price, the only original part must be a water-damaged body.
I don't tend to choose an unwise decision just because others are more unwise.
And I'm still not gonna buy an expensive bass.

Thats just astounding! They're both outside of bucket-list pricing compared to the experience associated with it, IMO.Meh... the last time I remember "Babs" Streisand performing in Vegas? The "standing room" way up in the cobwebs near the roof - behind a support post - started at around $5,000. I never could figure out which was more ridiculous - the price for just being there - or that people were willing to pay it...

The band typically sets a fee per venue and the promoters and their vendors are where the markup comes from. As much as I'd love to totally hammer the once (man of the people) performer, much of it is beyond their control.
The fee per venue is their demand for their earned experience. Not unlike a licensed master plumber or heart/cancer doc. Administrative fees pile on.

I just got back from traveling to Kansas City, which is a working trip but I try to take in as much music as I can while I'm on my own. At some point I got into a conversation with someone who was a Taylor Swift fan talking about trying and failing to get to see her live at something like $2900 a ticket. On the KC trip I saw Parker Millsap for about $25 and Shakey Graves for $45, and you know what? - they were fantastic shows. "What the market will bear" and all that, I know, but most of my best concert experiences have been lesser-known acts in smaller venues for under $50. And I mean recently, not '80s money.
John Frusciante and Flea would be really amazing to see live and I feel like I could potentially pick up something new. I totally snoozed on that show and Weezer somehow.
Flea was pretty low key to be honest. They did the opening jam like they always do and jammed a bit and then went into Can't Stop. Other than that Flea didn't really do much aside from just play the tunes. I guess he's just getting older. Lol. He used to go ballistic live. Lol. He played very well though. John was on another planet though. He's so good.
