Where are you getting your strings these days?

Guitar Center has no selection, local music stores are nearing extinction, and Bass Strings Online looks out of date, like they might not be open any more. I've been getting strings from Amazon lately for the sake of convenience, but if there's a better site I'd love to know.

Bass Strings Online is now a different site (name escapes me). I use Guitar Strings & Beyond based out of North(?) Carolina. Good selection, great service.

My most recent purchases have been through gimmesomestrings.com, stringsandbeyond.com, and Thomann. I also used Sweetwater for comparing prices; the other vendors named were cheaper for what I was looking for but if Sweetwater had a sale at the right time (or if I was buying other stuff) I would have bought from them instead. I also sized up FretNation... they had a lot of items that are hard to source anywhere else but at the time they didn't have the best prices on what i was looking for.

Across all five of those vendors you can find nearly every bass string currently made. I wouldn't patronize Amazon for strings, there have been a lot of complaints here about people not getting what they ordered.

I wouldn't recommend Thomann these days to people in the US, but only because of tariffs. Otherwise their prices are best for the European string brands if you buy enough at a time to make up for the shipping cost.

TI jazz rounds = amazon, or any other vendor offering a deal.
dogal-hellborg (stranded core) = strings by mail.
roto 66 ultra-light gauge = anywhere (often amazon).

Fret Nation (formerly Bass Strings Online) and Strings By Mail have been my go-to for the last 10-12 years. Matt at SBM and Jason at FN are both great to deal with.

I play alot of Flats so the occasional time I order new strings, it's from Amazon. I already have an account and the shipping is free. I've never had an issue receiving what I ordered. Personally, I say get them wherever they're cheapest.

Sweetwater. I just got a set of DR Hi-beams and Roto 66s but haven't put them on yet. I got a set of La Bella LTF's I also got from Sweetwater that I tried on a Sire P5 sitting in a drawer waiting to go on something
