Where did the 800rb go?

I concur - the Legacy has a really defined midrange that "speaks" well in a band mix.
The MB-series was wider down low and felt a little scooped to me, but my MB800 had SO much power that it punched through regardless.

oh boy, do i agree! to slightly paraphrase a well used saying: “you can take my 400RB when you pry my cold dead fingers from it”. i have never had an 800RB though would love to play one. my “big” amp for outdoor stuff is a 1001RB which i love but doesn’t quite do the same grind as the 400 and is way overkill for most inside stuff. i push my 400 so i hope it keeps hanging in there. but hey, i didn’t buy it to look at it! (and i bought it brand new a loooong time ago…..)

My worry w 400rb is loudness, my band is a loud loud Alt, Shoegaze, noise rock band. i would like to afford some loud cleans, a little grind and grit is find, but too much and you lose the contrast between the already very distorted guitars

for the past forever weve been rocking a Rumble 100 Combo, just got a good job so now we can upgrade. We were gonna go w a 810e for a cab, theres tons in our area for sub-500. Guitarists use a Jc120 and a jcm 2203 half stack, overkill but its fun to be loud lol. Was also gonna grab a USA MM SUB Bass since they are also goin for cheap around here.

The 400 into a fridge will be much louder than the 100 watt Rumble.

I ran a 700rbii into various cabs for years. Toured that head through a Henry the 8x8 against dual 120 high gain heads and each guitarist had a 412. I didn’t go bigger with the cab until they moved into 612’s.

I will say for clean and if you’re married to GK the 1001rbii is excellent and imo a great pedal platform since it takes very loud levels to get into “rails” or an extremely inefficient cab. I just sold my last one recently and kept my last 700rbii.

Gaze music can get super loud so I understand.

I think you’re on the right track with the fridge though for sure. A 215 would do as well and can be had for what you’re looking at for a fridge. Also suggest a 412. The GK ones come up for decent prices these days as so do the Aguilar. I’d try things out. I’d suggest some more modern stuff but I know how it goes wanting a certain vibe or sound as well.

I just purchased a Mesa 800D for my new main amp. Love love love it.

Push that 400RB into a 4 ohm 410 cab, Ampeg recommended, and if it’s not loud enough, you have bigger problems to deal with! They are FAR louder than their wattage might suggest.

I have a 1001RB. A band I was playing with had Backline 600. It was so similar to the 1001 RB that I never brought mine over 👍

I wouldn't hesitate to own one.

I used and loved a Bass 400+ back in my 90s grunge days, so I picked up an 800D back in January.

The 800D is a GREAT sounding amp, but my Legacy 800 nails the tone in my head and I'd have had to sell the Legacy to keep the 800D.
