My good friend/colleague Mike sold a vintage Fender to Pino Palladino. Pino was in NY and he just drove up to where he was and bought it. just like anyone else. totally no big dealIF a celeb needed all new gear, is there a gear finding service he would use? Or is he no different than you and me when it comes to buying a guiter?
Is there ever a point in our musical journey that we can say, I have everything I need, and sometime more than i could ever play, or put to use?
Pretty sure they buy just like regular folks.
This guy also reports getting visits to his shop from touring musicians - sometimes big-name tock stars - simply because they have a few hours free and enjoy seeing what's available at shops like his.
I'm definitely no pro. My last big deal was done in the parking lot of a Dollar General. Easily a step or 2 behind Walmart.They make lowball offers to Craigs List sellers, then meet them at the Walmart parking lot to close the deal.
Having lived in LA for quite a few years, I’d see certain people in all sorts of shops; there used to be a store in Santa Monica, West LA Music, that prided itself on being a “pro shop”. Lo and behold, I was in there one day, I heard a commotion, looked up, and it was Stevie Wonder and entourage. There was a store that dealt in rare, vintage, and actually liquidated used pro road gear, Black Market Music; I went in one day and the Black Crowes were hanging out. About five years ago, I went to the original GC on Sunset and…IF a celeb needed all new gear, is there a gear finding service he would use?
