In a wallet, in the front pocket with the penknife. I actually use a business card holder as my wallet, because it's smaller.

Back pocket opposite of my wallet. Front pocket if I'm in a crowded place and worried about pick-pocketing (Boston/D.C. subways, etc).
I have a wallet which remains in my inside pocket of my jacket for security. That way it can't get pinched easily and it means then I don't have to worry about carrying a bag or anything with me.
i answered this, and then got a new wallet, so my answer has changed.... it now goes in my front pocket, IN a money clip style folding wallet. impossible to get at without me knowing, with the style pants i wear.

wallet with everything else. chained to my pants and keys. if someone is going to rob me, its going to take a minute.

Front left jeans pocket. Easy for me to access, no sitting on it, tricky to pickpocket. I use an "All Ett" brand wallet which folds much flatter/thinner than other wallets--it's a genious design really.
I'm exactly the same. Money is nasty dirty stuff. I'm not obsessive compulsive about germs but I really dislike handling money for some reason.

There are lots of gypsies in some European cities, Paris and Madrid among them. Many gypsies make their living off pickpocketing, particulary with tourists.
I saw a news report on TV about all of the germs on your steering wheel (slow news day). How do you feel about that? The sad fact is that everything you touch has germs on it. That's why god gave us an immune system.
Maybe. But I know for certain I didn't run my finger up my nose or accidentally push through the TP as I did the "paperwork" and said "Screw it, I don't need to wash my hands" and then put my hard earned cloth and paper cash in my front left pocket. Immune system or no, I don't like the idea. Not at all. My steering wheel is a known quantity.
When I was in Paris I almost got picked. I was on the tube and felt someone's fingers slip into one of my back pockets; I had my wallet and passport zipped in my coat pocket. When I swatted the thief's hand out of the way and turned to look he was already off the train.
One of the worst places for pick pocketing is, surprisingly, Vatican City.
